fstab mounting
Hi there...
I want to mount a windows share automatically in fstab but I get an error
When I try: mount -t smbfs //MSWinSMBServer/share /mnt/share, it works,
and even when I pass options like,
mount -t smbfs -o
username=bcochofel,workgroup=COCHOFEL,uid=bcochofel,gid=users
then, when asked, I type password...
The problem is when I do this in my fstab...
here's the line:

samba credentials file - hit and miss?
Greetings,
I'm using a CentOS 5.4 Virtual Machine and Samba 3.0.33-3.15.el5_4 to access a
file share from a Windows XP host. I also tried the same using a
Fedora 10 VM with
the same negative results. Please read on.
I've browsed the web and read the mount.cifs man page. And the conclusion
is the same: you connect to a share using a username and password and you're
good to to. Or,

journal aborting and remounting /boot as ro
Hi,
Apologies in advance for any breaches of netiquette, I couldn't find any guidelines
about submission to this forum but I'd be grateful for your help on something.
My /boot filesystem is being remounted shortly after start-up as read-only.
I get the following messages...
journal_bmap_Ra7a5f568: journal block not found at offset 12 on ide0(3,1)

How to stop automount
I just put a USB hard drive into service, but find that unless the drive
is connected to my PC the machine won't boot and drops to a shell.
Below is the line I added to fstab. I thought that the option "noauto"
would prevent the machine from trying to mount the drive
/dev/sdb /usbdrive ext3 user,noauto,rw 0 2
What am I doing wrong? Any advice is

If
I type the lines from the keyboard, it works fine.? However, when I try

fstab, unusual behavior of "missing UUID"
I have the following as the last line of my /etc/fstab file on a
computer running CentOS6.4..
UUID=3b550884-8d05-41a5-a205-17b6d7269dd1 /mnt ext3

The UUID refers to an ext3 partition of a removable USB drive.
If the USB drive is not plugged into the computer the computer will not
boot. It seems that this is the incorrect behavior since

Functioning Samba Install has one desktop causing a complaint ...
... On a LAN consisting of a box with Linux 2.4.21-138-smp using Samba version 2.2.5-UL, all the boxes can log in and see the shares (windoz xp, 2000, me - all smbpasswords set to none), except one that is windoz98. Attempts to connect get "IPC$" login messages. The box that gets the message has a directory/password/smbpassword (set to none) on the Linux machine.
Is this due to the

more questions on setting up autofs on C7
Hi!
Thanks to some of you I got autofs set up on my C7 netbook for
mounting local cifs filesytems.
Now I want to do something on my C7 desktop machine, that seems to
me to be a little different, and I"m not sure how to do it.
I have an external RAID1 box that attaches via USB. It is/will be
nearly always /dev/sdc, but being USB I can't guarantee that it
will always be found there.

kb2536276 causing issues with non encrypted password configuration
Many of my clients installed kb2536276 on their windows client and can no
longer connect to my samba server. Their sessions don't even get logged. I
upgraded to 3.5.9 on my test server with no luck. Encrypted with local
authentication to the smbpassword file seems to work fine, but I need the
servers running non encrypted samba to work. I'm running 3.5.6 on AIX 5.3
using PAM auth and
