preexec close + Win2K
I have Samba 2.2.2 on Solaris 8 acting as a PDC. I have written a script that checks to see if a user is already logged in on the PDC and if so, sends the user a message (via the SMB message stuff) telling them they need to log off. I run this script using "preexec close" under the netlogon share. So, the user authenticates against the PDC, but then gets a desktop that is mostly

Slow navigation on samba share
hi all, I have a problem with some windows 7 pro (64) clients navigating on samba shares. The user wants to open a folder and then it takes a long time until it opens. Looking into the samba log of the PC it is filled with this entries (seems to check for every ldap user): [2013/03/18 10:10:54.224428, 2] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:572(init_sam_from_ldap) init_sam_from_ldap: Entry found for user:

Samba+ADS+groups>32 = broken Samba
I've got a strange problem with certain Active Directory user accounts that are members of more than 32 groups. It seems that Samba (or winbind?) completely ignores extended groups if it crosses over 32 groups. This seems to be a Samba specific issue; * When the AD user is logs in via ssh, it can perform writes to the resource; the same user browsing via Samba will get an "Access

PDC and logon script
Hi everyone, I have a question about the logon script command. I've read and read and read the man page for smb.conf. In essence, I've duplicated the settings on the PDC how-to document to create a PDC with a logon script. However, when I log in, the scrips doesn't run. The only thing I don't have enabled, like the how-to, is roaming profiles. I'll include my smb.conf for

Hier is a working smb.conf file, almoust working.
Hier is my new smb.conf (this smb wil make your win2000 profiles to be stored in one directory, ''\\%L\Profiles''. Verry handy if you want one mandatory profile for all users. It wil also make connection to the right user home drive :). Have fun, but beware! Right now for some wierd reson i can only log in with root account and nobody else. # Samba config file created using SWAT
