Samba Domain Support Problems
I'm out of ideas here. I'm trying to set up a computer network using samba
on Linux as the primary server and a WinXP machine as the client. I'm just
beginning with XP, but I've been using Linux and Samba (for Win95/98) for
many years now.
So, I've set up samba machine "griffon" to support domains...

EMERGENCY: User profile for Win98 domain logon lost after upgrade to Oct 5 CVS code
Hello all,
I'm in very big big trouble here. In an attempt to enable domain logon for
NT workstations as well, I fetched the CVS code
on Oct 5, 98. I successful built it with no error. I copied the smb.conf
from a workable Sambav1.9.18p8 to the Samba2.0alpha.
Then I started the smbd and nmbd of Samba2.0alpha. I rebooted one of the
Windows 98 (which used to be working happily

ACL problem with WinXP and Samba 2.2.5-2.2.8
Trying to add users using security tab i WinXP doesn't work for us, no
users are added. Existing ACLs are possible to change and delete.
This behavior has been identified with both Solaris 2.6, Linux 2.4.9-31
with XFS, Samba 2.2.5 and 2.2.8. I'm attaching global part of out
smb.conf and a snippet from the log.
Our users are in an NT domain and in NIS.

Johannes

Hi All
I've been using samba for some time as a PDC in our company. Everything
was alright till I upgraded samba

Samba 2.2.5-10 and Win XP SP1
Hi all,
This is my first try on Samba as a PDC.
I have managed to setup Samba as a PDC for my home network. The Win98 pc
connects and validates no probs, but not the Win XP pc.
The acc on the linux system has been created and is fine as well as the
samba passwd's. The XP pc is 'changed' onto the domain with no errors,
with the user name that will be used by the user to log on the

Does anyone have winbind working on Freebsd?
I have been trying to setup a Samba 2.2.6 server on FreeBSD 4.7. I want to
use my NT4 domain for authentication of users. It looks like everything is
setup properly as far as winbind is concerned, see below for results using
wbinfo. I am still prompted for a password when trying to connect to the
samba share. I cannot list the shares using "smbclient -L servername
-Udomain+username"

Hello everyone,
I'm sorry for this long post, but I think there is a real understanding
problem for many people on ADS domain membership.
I'm not the first to post about this type of problem, however I didn't find
an answer to it in the archives and I followed the HOWTO-collection.
Well, this is what I'm doing :

Winbind basic questions
I have been trying to setup a Samba 2.2.6 server on FreeBSD 4.7. I want to
use my NT4 domain for authentication of users. I am getting confused reading
all the documents as to whether I need PAM or not. I have installed Samba
successfully and as far as I can tell it looks like it's working:
wbinfo -t returns "Secret is good"
wbinfo -u returns a list of all my domain users
