Samba3 By Example - Suggested Update (Correction?) And Two Winbind Defects
We were trying to build a SuSE 9.1 box in a lab as a Domain Member server in a
Windows Active Directory domain where the AD server was running Windows 2000
Server.
We found that the instructions in Chapter 9.3.3 were, at least in our case,
incomplete.
The AD server was managing a private domain, so following the Windows
Configure My Server wizard the domain was setup as

Ctrl-W killing entire line, not just last word
On the Asterisk CLI, I notice that pressing Ctrl-W deletes the entire
line of text, as opposed to just the last word. Is this an artifact of
using editline instead of readline? I'll note that other Emacs-style
keypresses work just fine on the Asterisk CLI, but Ctrl-W is a real
pain. I would go so far as to call this a bug as it is certainly
behaviour that differs from what the user expects.

Heimdal Version Question
We would like to build a SuSE Professional 8.2 box as a Domain Member Server
in a Windows 2000 Active Directory domain, and we are referencing Chapter
9.3.3 of Samba3-By-Example.
The version of heimdal supplied with SuSE 8.2 is 0.4e. S3BE references
heimdal version 0.6 plus patches.
Since SuSE often backports fixes from later versions of products into older
versions, the question is: will

Strange Samba Problem
Running SuSE 9.2. This problem happens with both the SuSE-supplied Samba on
the DVD, as well as the SuSE update rpms to 3.0.9. We even removed all the
*.tdb files and recreated the installation from scratch, as always carefully
following the steps in S3BE. FWIW, this same config worked previously on this
and earlier systems; we did not change anything on this system (other than

Building openssh-3.5p1 with new DES functions
Hi,
I've installed openssl-0.9.7 and now am testing current openssh-cvs.
The kerberosIV installation has it's own libdes.a. I'm quite please
openssh built successfully, congratulations! Unfortunately, kerberos
autentication is not tried at all. As far as I remeber, Ja Iven who wrote
some patch, which as he said got into 3.5p1 also removed the ifdef's that

VMware Printing Problem - Access Denied, Unable To Connect

Workstation 4. A Windows 2000 Pro guest OS is installed in VMware.
Printing from the W2K OS doesn't work. I was able to add the printer as
a network printer OK (it appears as a network printer when using My
Network Places to browse to the Linux Samba server), but the printer
status reads Access Denied, Unable to Attach

libguestfs-test-tool on ubuntu: kernel panic
Hi,
I am trying to get libguestfs-test-tool working on ubuntu. The first
problem I had was that HiveX won't compile on ubuntu to due to some missing
symbols (rpl-getopt, I see this has already been reported). Second problem
is that if HiveX is not available, guestfish doesn't link because code
refers to symbols which aren't compiled into libguestfs (I was able to work
around this by
