Missing rpms for samba-ldap script
I was pointed to: http://web.vcs.u52.k12.me.us/linux/smbldap/ As an effective script to get samba/ldap configured for a PDC. It is written for Fedora 3 core or the K12LTSP distro. of course I discovered this after installing the Centos distro. Now it is decision time: stay with Centos and get this working or move the the K12 distro. This setup is for the small business network in my basement

Trouble connecting to Samba shares from other Linux boxes
Hey list, I'm having some problems with a few of my Fedora Core 2 boxes. 1 of the systems is set up as a Samba Server as the main fileserver. I have some Windows XP machines connecting to it just fine, nice and fast. However, I also have some FC2 systems that connect to it using the smbfs filesystem, and while they work initially after booting up, any amount of browsing through Nautilus or

Can't browse network using nautilus
Hi, I'n using the nautilus file browser in a GNOME desktop environment on a FC2 system. If I enter smb:/// in the location bar in nautilus I can see the network but whenever I try to look at the shares on a computer I get a message saying that I do not have permissions to view the contents. I looked in the archives and found a thread on a similar problem. This thread mentioned that

Samba-to-Samba connection problems
Hey list, I'm still having some issues getting 2 Fedora machines running Samba 3.0.7 to stay connected for any length of time. FW: Trouble with ACLs
Well, I screwed around a bit and after doing a "wbinfo -u" and a "wbinfo -g" I stopped getting the "unable to map SID" error. Best strategy to undo an update
My http authentication through winbind has stopped working with a Fedora Core 2 update of httpd and samba (and others), httpd-2.0.49-4 -> httpd-2.0.50-2.1 & samba-3.0.3-5 -> samba-3.0.6-2.fc2 which I believe is caused by a winbind bug (http://us1.samba.org/samba/news/#comingsoon_3.0.7) What is the best strategy to fix this? I can think of two: 1) rpm --erase all the

Hi, I have a system running FC2 with SAMBA-3.0.10-1.fc2 installed on it. smbclient's tar_re_search broken?
Hi all, My old and stable backup script don't work anymore. It's based on smbclient's tar command using crX parameters for creating archive, excluding files based on basic regular expressions. The box is running Fedora core 2, fully updated: kernel-2.6.8-1.521 samba-common-3.0.7-2.FC2 samba-client-3.0.7-2.FC2 The error is easily reproducible: smbclient //ntpdc/share -A credfile \ -c

Jumping from FC2
Some time ago I installed FC2 at the request of an employer. That contract ended over a year ago, and FC2 is an orphan. I am gradually feeling more pressure to jump from FC2, and do not wish to remain with the Fedora Core Project, as I don't want to make installing and upgrading my machine into a hobby. I already maintain a Debian machine for my girlfriend, but I'm not sure I wish make

Centos 4, bind slow responses when no cache
I have a Centos 4.0, bind-9.2.4-2 as a master and and FC2 bind-9.2.3-13 slave setup. Their seem to be a delay on the Centos 4 when asking for anything that is not in its cache. Doing some tcpdumps I see the AUTH response came back, but like a 3 second delay after that before server sends response to client. Both server have the same config other than one being a master and the other a slave. Their

partition table Cent4RC1
I just installed CentRC1 on a Dell gx150 as a test. I'm running into the same problem I had with Fc3. I get a partition table error when trying to use ghost8 to create an image. I was considering putting Cent4 on a ProliantDL380, FC3 installed on that machine but wouldn't boot up, stuck on Grub. I had FC2 on the Proliant but when FC2 went to the 2.6 kernel, it hung up on the Nash prompt.

Wine Client Error:b: write: Bad file descriptor
I'm running wine 0.9.2 on a specialized Fedora Core 2 linux computer. I've actually had this running in similar setups on several computers now, along with a custom program. I had everything working, and it was all very nice, until I moved to a new linux setup, so I know it's something in the wine configuration, not in my program. It's still FC2 and wine 0.9.2, but it's the
