measurement error model - "simple" linear regression
Dear friends, I found the thread on this subject this summer but wonder whether it has been taken any further. I have an important medical problem where X is computed from a three independent and complicated measurements (exchangeable sodium and potassium and total body water - i.e. X = (Nae+Ke)/TBW ) and Y is serum sodium concentration (all data in Edelman, JCI 1958). I have the individual

Roaming Profile gets deleted
Hi there, I try to move our W2K Domain to samba. I managed to dump a list of the old users with its SID's and created them on the samba domain which has the same sid like the old W2k domain. Then the users should be able to use their old roaming profile without changing the profiles sid. This works if the computer which acesses the domain has already the profile on its disk. If the

Samba roaming profile with folder redirection
Hi, I have a domain controller which was configured to use the local profiles. We have a relatively small group whose work required it. Now we are moving toward using the domain for all machine with roaming profile. There are a lot of posts dealing with the roaming profiles and the folder redirection. But I've met some issues. My configuration: NS3 and SMB are hostnames of our servers.

Folder Redirection, Roaming Profiles and Working Offline
Hi, I have been trying to use samba for a while as a way to have an identical desktop/startmenu/profile/favourites/etc on multiple PCs. Samba is setup as the PDC and I can join the domain and login. The problems started firstly when I wanted to have some sort of caching and also logon concurrently to different pcs with the same user. The main problem being that whichever computer I log off

Roam Prof + F Redir: Logon/off merge deletes most of profile
First up, sorry for the lengthy post, but I've tried quite a lot. I've searched the mailing lists, Google, usenet, and IRC. This post is a last resort. Thanks for any help. Cheers, Richard I have verified my setup follows the samba doc: http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/happy.html#redirfold Synopsis: --------- When a user logs off XP, most of the server profile

Logging in taking too long with roaming profile (not large profile issue)
Thus spake Nathan Ehresman (nehresma@css.tayloru.edu) [29/07/03 08:50]: > check out http://www.css.tayloru.edu/~nehresma/samba.html Check out the logs -- this is a completely different problem. Ed and I have been working on this for some time now, and while your solution wards off potential future problems, it doesn't fix the current problem. We're not having the typical 'My

Win7 Folder Redirection For Roaming Profiles
Hi Everyone. I've read a few posts (mostly a repeat of the same 2) on win7 folder redirection but I'd like to ask here nonetheless. What is the proper method for implementing folder redirection for roaming profiles in Samba3? -- Thanks, Phil

Re: roaming profiles and folder redirection: programs 'not responding' (solved)
I seem to have solved the problem. While I had the 'wins' entry in /etc/nsswitch.conf of the samba machine, winbind wasn't installed, so it wasn't able to do a netbios lookup of the client machine. Since I fixed this problem, the 'not responding' problem didn't occur anymore. Greetings, Heiko 2008/8/10 Heiko Harders <heiko.harders@gmail.com>: > Hello, >

Re: XP Pro - Folder Redirection / Roaming Profiles Question
Hi folks, I running samba 3.x in PDC mode with an ldap backend. Works great! I use roaming profiles with folder redirection on win2k, no problem. Here's the issue, I have a few machines that run xp pro that I need to give the users domain access but NOT roaming profiles. So, I have disabled roaming profiles on the pcs by using the "no propagate changes to the server" and "only

roaming profiles and folder redirection: programs 'not responding'
Heiko, I suggest you concentrate on the re-directed folders - not the roaming profile - because the roaming profile is copied to the local hard disc when you log on - so throughout your session it is locally stored. You might try un-directing your re-directed folders one at a time (over a period of a week) to see which one appears to be affecting performance. Regards, David Collins On Sun,

%LOGONSERVER% variable in netlogon/Default User folder redirection
Hi, (This is taken form here : http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/happy.html#redirfold ) I'm using folder redirection so I have a NTUSER.DAT file in the "netlogon" directory on the logon server (the primary domain controler), which I edited with regedit to set up some folders so that they point to the logon server by using the %LOGONSERVER% variable, and it seems it

storing of roaming profile fails
Hi list, a strange problem occurs in samba 3.0.8 (Debian 3.0.8-2 package): When a Domain-User tries to log off (WinXP SP2), the workstation fails to store the profile in the PROFILE-Path. The message "cannot store \\SERVER\Profiles\Administrator\Recent" pops up. But this is only the half truth. The directory for the user (f.e. Administrator) is been created. A few files are copied

roaming profile corruption with windows xp client and samba PDC
Hi, I have roaming profile issue on my SAMBA PDC with an LDAP backend running on FreeBSD 6.3. It seems that randomly, user's profile get "corrupted" on windows XP. When that happens, the user log in as usual (%userprofile% variable is set and all the share are properly connected) but he gets a default desktop configuration (default wallpaper, english keyboard layout...while i'm

Roaming Profile won't upload to workstation that didn't create it
Hi, I believe I've had a 'hidden' roaming profiles problem with Samba for a while (I have no idea when it first manifested itself - sometime between 3.0.2 and 3.0.21a). When I create a new user, their client workstation creates and updates the profile without any problems. Existing profiles used by existing client workstations are also fine. However, when I try to logon as an

samba4 - windows 7+ partially synchronized roaming profile
Hi, I had searched long for the problem of only partially sync'd profiles on Windows 7/8 . Windows XP has worked fine. There was always the error "Your roaming profile is not synchronized correctly with the server. You have been logged in with a partially synchronized profile". The application protocol of windows told me that the file

Roaming Profile Mix-Up Between Users
Hi! We are having some trouble after migrating from an NT4 domain controller to Samba 3: When there is no local copy of any profile on a workstation, a user can log in and his profile is copied from the server. When a second user logs in to the same workstation after the first one logged out, he sees the profile of the first one. That is, he actually used it. His profile isn't even read

Samba 3.4, Windows 7, Roaming profiles and Folder redirection
Hello, I'm quite new to Samba administration and I've inherited a working samba setup with roaming profiles however the login and logout times for users has been growing and I'm starting to think it's time do something about it. I'm thinking redirect some folders to a samba share on the network will speed up the login and logout times. Our setup has 25 Windows 7 workstations
