Access denied" I chmod 777 the driver directory and spool directory. I gave specified the user as printer admin in the share. My firewall is disabled. Why is it still giving me the access denied error? Best

Unable to add Point and Print printers to clients with Windows 8.1 and up
Hello everyone, I can finally ditch Windows 7 in my Samba AD DC based setup. unfortunately, adding printers from my Samba-based print server (separate server, member in the domain) does not work. My print server shows up fine on Windows 8.1[1] and Windows 10, all printers are there and even copying the driver seems to complete successfully. However, right in the very last step when it configures

false local printer settings
Hi, I installed a printer via cups, did the driver installation as described in Procedure 5.17. Steps to Install Printer Drivers on the Samba Servers (Samba-3 by Example). I changed the paper-size in the printer-settings and the device-settings from letter to A4. After the installation of the printer on a workstation, I got the wrong local printer settings (again letter instead of A4). Best

New Printers with Samba 3.14 driver upload
Hello Everybody, we got new networkprinters and set them up. They work fine, but driverupload doesn't seem to work. We deleted the drivers used by the printers we had before. My question is should I also delete the .tdb files associated with printing? I remember driverupload once worked well with the printers we had before. Any advice would be nice. Jan Kellerhoff

Vanishing options in hp printer drivers
We're using a couple of HP printers (2200, 4200, 3390) using the HP PCL 6 printer driver. Printer drivers are installed on the samba (3.0.24) box, connecting, driver installation and printing work OK. Problem: using the same driver version with the printer shared by a windows box gives some additional options like - brochure printing - putting serveral pages on one sheet Any Idea why

Cups + Samba + Vista?
I have followed the various guides online for setting up Cups and Samba, to where you can just right click a print and choice connect and the printer just works but then it does not work with Vista. It seems to print out tons of junk. Is there a way to make Vista work with Cups + Samba?

Printer Device Modes
Greetings Admins, The howto details setting the device mode using a windows client: http://us4.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/printing.html#id2552900 Is there a way to script this process? We support 260+ printers and it's a pain in the ass. (My wrist is hurting!) regards, Ryan

Delay with printer properties
Greetings Samba Fans! I'm experiencing a strange problem which started after installation of Service Pack 2 for Windows XP: When a user tries to print there is a long delay (sometimes around 2 minutes) before the printer properties page is opened. This only affects Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed. I did a 'tcpdump' on the printserver and observed something quite strange:

'deadtime' in Samba 3.0.13
Hi, I currently have deadtime = 15 in my smb.conf. This featured worked good to disconnect clients that have been idle for > 15 minutes in the past. With the 3.0.13 version, it seems to do nothing. As in, it just keeps the user connected indefinitely. Here is what I see when no one is currently at the office and everyone is logged off their computer. Thanks [root@spicy p]#
