Fedora FC1 RPMs
I've spent the morning looking at making some RPMs for Fedora Core 1
and run into a problem with GSSAPI. Basically the default install of
Fedora doesn't come with the necessary gssapi code to build the RPMs by
default (i.e. you need to say %define kerberos5 0 in openssh.spec).
Since Fedora is going to fork off from RedHat I was going to create a
set of patches to make a

OpenSSH and Redhat 8
John,
The following steps should work for you (or anyone buildling on a
RedHat box):
1) Get the official OpenSSH source RPM from
ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/OpenSSH/portable/rpm/SRPMS/openssh-3.7.1p2-1.src.rpm
2) Do 'rpmbuild --rebuild ./openssh-3.7.1p2-1.src.rpm' from where you
saved the file.
3) This should create the following files in /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386:

SSH 3.2.2 on Solaris 8 with /kernel/drv/random
Hi,
I'm like to try a get the new release to work with Sun's new device,
that can be installed with patch 112438-01.
I compiled SSL attempting to point it at the random device:
cd openssl-0.9.6d
./Configure solaris-sparcv7-gcc
make DEVRANDOM="/kernel/drv/random"
And then ran the SSH configure:
./configure --prefix=/opt/OBSDssh --with-pam --without-rsh \
--sysconfdir=/etc/ssh

Pre-RedHat 9.0 RPM Packages
Since I have a mixture of RH 7.1, 7.2, 7.3 and Advanced Server 2.1
boxes, I've made a set of RPMs for those platforms. I do not have a
RedHat 8.0 box to make RPMs. Since RedHat <= 7.2 is out of support by
RedHat, I don't think we'll see any officially created RPMs (but I
could be wrong about that) so I thought I'd offer these to the general
community. These were all built

OpenSSH 3.8p1 RPMs
Hello all. I've posted some RPM builds of OpenSSH 3.8p1 for RedHat 7.2,
7.3, 9.0, 2.1AS and Fedora Core 1. These are available from
http://bamboo.lexi.com/openssh . I've previously posted RedHat 7.1
but as I've upgraded the last 7.1 box, I no longer have a build
platform for that release. People have found value in these builds in
the past so I try to keep the page updated.

Windows XP - Explorer crashes when I try to open a file on a Samba share
I am having problems with my samba clients. I am using Windows XP SP1 to
try to connect to a Samba server I have running on my Gentoo Linux server.
Browsing a share works decently well, but I ocassionally have network
problems (the same timeout issue I explain below).
The real problem comes, though, when I try to access a file (either trying
to open it or just right-clicking on it). As soon as I

This is what I was saying before

Samba 3.0.7 is broken
I'm running Debian woody with all stable packages w/e to samba which is
from the backports collection.
Basically 3.0.5 works, 3.0.6 and 3.0.7 do not.
By not working, I mean connecting from a windows workstation results in
a login and password prompt and a 'Failed to verify incoming ticket'
error in the logs. This behaviour occurs with accessing it via
"\\hostname\";

Network lockups with win98 and samba 3
Hi all,
This is a new install on a network comprised of win98 and xp machines. I'm a
relative newbie to samba and getting some errors and problems. I would much
appreciate some advice on my setup.
The setup is samba-3.0.23,1 running on FreeBSD 6.1-STABLE as a windows
server replacement and with clients mostly running dos POS software on win98
machines and other dos and windows software on

Cannot receive files from server 3.0.7 to W2K
Hello,
My problem is the following :
I have a Debian (testing distribution) on which I used to have Samba
server v3.0.2a
it worked perfectly with my other machine which is running Windows 2000.
I recently made a global packages update on my Debian machine, which
apparently changed the Samba server to 3.0.7
Since then, I have been absolutely unable to retrieve files from the
debian server to the

getting OpenSSH/OpenSSL to utilize /dev/random
I've installed Sun's SUNWski package on Solaris 8 (32-bit) that provides a
/dev/random interface. It appears to as cat'ing it gives me a bunch of
well, random data.
However, when I ran my configure, it gives me the WARNING.RND message to the
effect that I'm using the built-in. I've seen allusions on this list to
building openssl with to get random support, so I rebuilt it

Recovering emails from "dead" server
I have a Linix server that won't boot. I've patched in a live CD and
mounted the original HDDs so I can browse the files using SSH.
I am trying to find where all my customer emails are stored so that I can
(hopefully) copy them off this "dead" server onto a new server which is also
running cPanel and Dovecot.
Does anyone know where Dovecot stores emails for each email
