Samba 3.0.7 / AD Domain Group Resolving
Hello List, currently we have Samba 3.0.7 running on SLES8 systems with AD integration. We?re using the SerNet RPM?s (ftp.sernet.de) Everything works fine so far, we just have a problem with resolving domain groups. wbinfo -g works fine, the domain groups are correctly resolved. But when inserting a "valid users = @AD_DOMAIN_GROUP" statement in the smb.conf we get the following error:

Winbind Problem after Update from 3.0.21b -> 3.0.23b
Hi all, we're using Winbind on a Solaris 9 machine to authenticate our Users, who are held in a Windows 2003SP1 AD. We are now using Samba 3.0.21b and everything works as expected. I configured the nsswitch and installed "libnss_winbind.so" and "pam_winbind.so" as described in the documentation and winbind is able to resolve the AD users and groups and the useres are able

samba 4.4rcx WINS nsswitch module
I would appreciate it if you can change the host value in the /etc/nsswitch.conf file from *hosts:* to *files wins dns * and try again by restarting the server, since the error occurs whenever I restart the server. However, If I change the host value which is *hosts: * in the /etc/nsswitch.conf file to *files dns wins *and restart the server everything runs perfectly, when the alignment of

3.0.6 and pam_winbind problems (sernet)?
Recently I upgraded a server from samba 3.0.2a to 3.0.6, and now apache won't authenticate properly with pam_winbind. Winbind's been restarted, apache has been restarted, for grins I even rebooted the server. >From /var/log/messages: Aug 26 10:24:51 linps2 pam_winbind[654]: user 'jarboed' granted acces >From apache's error log: [Thu Aug 26 10:24:51 2004] [error] (2)No

Samba4 + Winbind + PAM Installation/Configuration
Hello, Now that I have my Samba4 DC running great on CentOS6.4 I was wondering if somebody could help understand better how to install and configure Samba4 with winbind and PAM. I used the tutorial here: [http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Winbind](http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Winbind) This got me through to the point where "Using pam_winbind" starts.

Using Winbindd in nsswitch.conf
Hello, all-- I've a question regarding using WINS for resolving names while on the unix box. As I understand it, you're supposed to add something to the /etc/nsswitch.conf file, but it's not clear to me whether it's supposed to be 'wins', 'winbind', or 'winbindd' as in the following example: hosts: files wins nisplus nis dns hosts: files winbind

File Locking problem
Hi, I have an SMB server running RH6.2 with SMB 2.0.7. All the clients are WIN95, and require access to a database on the SAMBA server. The problem is that the database locks the file while the user is modifying it, and then unlocks it when the user returns to the programs menu. If the user then selects another action that uses the same file the program reports that the file is locked. Another

winbind problem on solaris (samba head)
Hello, I just buildt via cvs samba head. I used just the option --with-winbind (no pam). The first problem is that sessionid.tdb is missing after the build. I don't know how to make it make a new one (can I copy one from another server or is there something in it that would make that a bad idea?). The other problem is that wbinfo -t says secret is good, wbinfo -g/u return the correct

Auth. failing - Update - NSSwitch
Thank you Andrew, you pointed me in the right direction. Part of what I m doing to try to get Netatalk to authenticate through Winbind was the following: 4) to install Winbind files: cp nsswitch/libnss_winbind.so /lib # this is the major one - solaris nss is different to linux. ln -s libnss_winbind.so nss_winbind.so.1 cp nsswitch/pam_winbind.so /lib/security Once I deleted /lib/libnss_winbind.so

Winbind/RH7.1...Help
Hi All: I followed all the instructions for activating winbind and it went thru but my getent etc are only showing users on the linux box. The only thing i'm not sure if i did correctly was to create the symbolic link for libnss_winbind.so.2 Anyone got winbind working on RH7.1? getenv does not return any AD DOMAIN users or groups - ?nsswitch is not setup for Samba?
The problem is that getenv does not return any AD domain users or groups. From much research this seems to be because nsswitch is not setup for Samba. I would really appreciate some assistance as I think this is my last hurdle for actually being able to use this test file server. Ubuntu server 18.04 - Samba installed and configured (almost) Kerberos functioning. wbinfo --ping-dc successfully

FreeBSD and Winbind
I'm hoping this is an easy question, but the way my day has gone I seriously doubt it is going to be. Today, I installed Samba 3.0.24 with winbind support on my FreeBSD 6.2 server. I am able to join my domain and get information concerning groups and passwords from the domain controller (Windows 2003) without any problem. Where I have run into a problem is using getent to get a copy of the
