Winbind on HPUX 11, some small progress
Hi All, Well, i've managed to enable some debugging in syslog, I had to put in /etc/syslog.conf ;*.debug on the syslog line. So at least I have an error which is being returned into syslog from winbind. This is what I get from winbind Feb 4 21:13:17 coastdr pam_winbind[20753]: Verify user `lonnie' Feb 4 21:13:18 coastdr pam_winbind[20753]: user 'lonnie' granted acces Feb 4

Compilation warning on 2.2.7a
It seems pretty typical that compilation warnings can be essentially ignored. Be that as it may, if I can't find evidence that a warning can be ignored in the archives, I am compelled to ask about it. A nod that these are OK or a fix for them if they are not OK would be appreciated. I am getting several warnings with winbind_nss.c : Compiling nsswitch/winbind_nss.c with -fPIC

winbind - getent passwd
I can't find the thread but someone last week was having trouble with 'getent passwd' not returning the Windows domain users as well as the local users. 'wbinfo -u' worked but not 'getent passwd'. I just finished a new server and had the same problem. Turns out I overlooked the the symbolic links in /lib. The file libnss_winbind.so needs to have a link to

winbind - samba4
Hi, I am using centos 6.3 and did the migration from samba3 to Samba4. More the "getent passwd" does not return users. I made the link: ln-s /usr/local/samba/lib/libnss_winbind.so.2 / lib/libnss_winbind.so ln-s /lib/libnss_winbind.so /lib/libnss_winbind.so.2 And change in /etc/nsswitch: passwd: files winbind shadow: files group: files winbind When I run the command:

Help! Solaris 8 + winbindd
Hi. Does anyone have samba 2.2.2 on Solaris 8 working with winbindd? I have samba 2.2.2 installed and configured --with-winbind and have the winbindd daemon running but the following does not work: 1. "getent passwd" Solaris command on returns local users (no Domain users) 2. winbindd authentication to the PDC is not occurring. 3. local users cannot change password since I modified the

FreeBSD and Winbind
I'm hoping this is an easy question, but the way my day has gone I seriously doubt it is going to be. Today, I installed Samba 3.0.24 with winbind support on my FreeBSD 6.2 server. I am able to join my domain and get information concerning groups and passwords from the domain controller (Windows 2003) without any problem. Where I have run into a problem is using getent to get a copy of the

Samba+ldap, Getent and AD (aka the good bad and the downright ugly)
Hi all. I have managed to join my samba server to an AD domain. I can now join using the net command and get various other bits of info. Wbinfo -u /g/t etc works nps Getent however doesn't. This is my question: By reading various emails over the last 2 weeks and various howtos etc In order to share users and passwords etc all I need to do is edit the nsswitch.conf To passwd: compat

Strange behaviour of winbind on solaris 8
Dear All, I came across a really strange behaviour when using winbind on solaris 8. Normally "nscd" should be turned off because it's causing problems in the username resolution etc. When I turn it off I can login e.g. using ssh as an AD users but when i start a command like "ls" it gets put in the background immediately? When "nscd" is turn on and login again I

Problem with PAM/SSSD/SAMBA4.1.2
Hi I hope that I am not totally wrong when asking this on a Samba list, but as I followed a tutorial found at the SAMBA wiki I hope I can find someone how is able to help me. My goal is to set up a server acting as a SAMBA AD Server with single sign on for linux users. I use a Ubuntu Server 13.10 as the base. On top of this I installed a SAMBA 4.1.2 from GIT, did provisioning, Kerberos

Samba4 + Winbind + PAM Installation/Configuration
Hello, Now that I have my Samba4 DC running great on CentOS6.4 I was wondering if somebody could help understand better how to install and configure Samba4 with winbind and PAM. I used the tutorial here: [http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Winbind](http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Winbind) This got me through to the point where "Using pam_winbind" starts.

samba4 + LDAP
Hello all, we are currently running several samba 3 services to give CIFS access to shares (mostly homedirs). Well, access to the shares are controlled by our LDAP service (not AD, OpenLDAP). Our servers are using sssd + pam to check wether or not a user is allowed to mount the share (on some old servers we also use the pam_ldap module for pam). Now, we just want to run samba 4 as simply as

nsswitch segfaults with Samba 3.0.21 on Solaris 9
I've built Samba 3.0.21 with Kerb ADS, NSS, Winbind and PAM support on Solaris 9 using gcc 3.3.2. I'm able to compile and install and authentication works fine - I can query and authenticate with AD, but when I su, passwd or some other local auth Solaris command the command segfaults. This even happens if a valid user is in any of the databases previous in the search pattern to
