Samba 3.0.7 / AD Domain Group Resolving
Hello List,
currently we have Samba 3.0.7 running on SLES8 systems with AD integration. We?re using the SerNet RPM?s (ftp.sernet.de)
Everything works fine so far, we just have a problem with resolving domain groups.
wbinfo -g works fine, the domain groups are correctly resolved. But when inserting a "valid users = @AD_DOMAIN_GROUP" statement in the smb.conf we get the following error:

File Locking problem
Hi, I have an SMB server running RH6.2 with SMB 2.0.7.
All the clients are WIN95, and require access to a database on the SAMBA
server.
The problem is that the database locks the file while the user is modifying
it, and then unlocks it when the user returns to the programs menu. If the
user then selects another action that uses the same file the program reports
that the file is locked.

Not able to add domain users to local groups
Hi,
I was able to successfully configure my samba server 3.0.24 running on
Debian Linux server as "Domain Member Server" to W2k3 server.
Command "net rpc testjoin" indicates that the join is a success.
As mentioned in the document

Under the section

Execute a script from dovecot when authentication fails
Hello,
My name is Noury, and I?m new here.
I?ve been using dovecot IMAP for years, but I want to do now some extra things.
I want to call a script from within dovecot, to build a suspicious IP addresses list when authentication fails.
I have tried the PostLoginScripting technic. It works fine but it doesn?t suit my needs. The script executes only after a successful login.
I want to execute my

"user 'root' does not exist" in winbindd.log after upgrade from 3.0.2a to 3.0.3
Dear list,
After the upgrade from 3.0.2a to 3.0.3 I see in my winbindd.log file all the time "user
'root' does not exist" messages.
I didn't get these messages with my 3.0.2a samba setup, but after the upgrade to
3.0.3 it is flooding my winbindd.log file, sometimes I get this message every minute in
my log file.

Winbindd crash after upgrade to 3.0.7
Hey all.
I've just upgraded my samba to the latest binaries from the Samba
site. After the upgrade, without touching my smb.conf winbindd crashes
just after startup.
I'm running Version 3.0.7-1.1-SUSE , from the samba.org rpms. PDC is a
Windows 2003 Server box. Running 3.0.6 I was experiencing a problem
where user authentication to the w2k3 was lost a few minutes after
starting smb,

kerberos and/or winbind ??
Hi,
I'm getting confused about the role that kerberos authentication plays.
What exactly is the point of using kerberos to join a samba server to an
AD domain?
If using kerberos still requires you to rely on winbindd for all the
nsswitch stuff then what is the point?
I can just as easily specify
workgroup = wkgrp

icecast 2.3.1 Slave server and local mounts
Hi All:
I have the Win32 icecast 2.3.1 setup on a W2K3 server as a slave to an
oddcast machine streaming a live radio station feed. I have some MP3
files located on the icecast slave and I want to setup these files as
other mount points. Is the possible when the icecast server is a slave?
Any input would be great!
Thank you

Re: samba + winbindd with NT-DC problem... i'm stuck.
I think your problem is this:
> passwd: files winbind
> group: files winbind
> shadow: files winbind nis
the correct modification for nsswitch is
passwd: files winbind
group: files winbind
shadow: files nis
DON'T put winbind in shadow line!
then try with "getenet passwd" or "getent group" and you should see all
users in /etc/passwd and after them domain

Move local profile to domain profile.
Ok, I got the W2K3 resource kit tool to move my local profile to my domain
profile (moveuser.exe). Didn't really work that cleanly.
Even though I used the /k (keep the local account), it didn't really. It
seemed to change the permissions on MOST of the files.
It didn't really move the files either. It's just pointed my profile (or
parts of it) to the existing folder. Can't

Windows 2003 AD/Kerberos Ticket error
I'm attempting to configure Samba 3.0.4 to work with Windows 2003 Active
Directory, mapping users' home directories automatically. Currently we
use this method in production with Windows 2000 but wish to migrate to
2003. The problem seems to be Kerberos related. I was able to join the
Linux box (RedHat 9) to the AD. I can do a "kinit <username>"
successfully. Klist shows a

I have been trying to use Winbindd in SLES 11 SP3 (Samba version 3.6.3-17.25.1) to fetch AD (Windows 2008 R2) identities into the Linux box and currently running into some problem w.r.t domain local groups and thought I could get some help here..

Rsync param parsing using --rsh broken? (was: no subject)
Reposting this with a subject line :-)
Hi,
I'm trying to get rsync over OpenSSH/Cygwin working. I started with a command
like this (which fails):

opening connection using ssh -i /home/ul081b/mpdm-keys/rsa-mpdm01 mpdm@mpdm-w2k3 MPDM-W2K3 rsync --server --daemon .

Numerous errors trying to authenticate samba against w2k3
My goal is to authenticate a Windows 2003 Server user from a FreeBSD
4.10 box via samba. A week ago I had this working. I then needed to
verify the procedure and test on a fresh install. Now it doesn't work,
despite doing the same steps (I think).
I generated a Kerberos ticket on the w2k3 box and transfered it to the
FreeBSD box. I used the ktutil command to incorporate the ticket into
