Print job files at /var/spool/samba get deleted before job is finished in cups
Dear list members, After a print job is submitted to Samba, from a windows client, the job file is created at /var/spool/samba, and immediately, it 'get's copied to /var/spool/cups, as it's expected, but, and here is the problem, it's also removed from /var/spool/samba although remaining in the to be processed queue in Cups. CUPS finally gets the job printed ok, but

client ip no longer listed in cups page log
Greetings Admins, We use samba 3.0.7 with cups 1.1.20 to serve printing to XP clients. samba and cups originally sat on the same debian machine. Due to load issues, we've moved cups to a separate debian machine and added the 'cups server =' directive to smb.conf. After this, the XP client IP is no longer listed in cups page_log, the samba server IP is listed instead. We need

Samba / cups problem
Hi all, I have set up a printer in cups and I can see it with lpstat -a, and I can print to it. I put what I thought was the appropriate stuff in smb.conf, and yet no printer shows up to the NT client I'm testing with, or in smbclient -L output. Any ideas at all? Here is the relevant info: ### smb.conf excerpts ### [global] ... printing = cups printcap name = cups printcap cache

"incorrect password length" when trying to domain-logon from XP to 2.2.3a
I'm trying to set up Samba 2.2.3a as a logon server for my Win2k/XP network. But when I try to join the domain with a XP Professional client (the SignOrSeal-Patch is installed, the other option in the management console is also set up) I get the error message "Login failed: unkown user name or wrong password" (translated from German) ... in the server's log there are the

CUPS disabling a print queue between jobs
Hi! on centos 4.4 (fresh install) I've got a problem with CUPS disabling a print queue between jobs. Sometimes it will print dozens of jobs before disabling the queue, sometimes it will do it after every job. This is a networked HP Laserjet printer at work. At home on a 4.4 box (upgraded from 4.3) with a local (parallel port) printer I've not seen this problem occur. (of course, I

Print queue show jobs when queried from windows, nothing in cups
We have a print server running RHEL 4, w/ samba-3.0.33-0.15.el4 When viewed from windows, one queue on the system has the "remains" of 264 print jobs - some dating back to April, but I can't find where the information is coming from. Apparently the jobs print fine, but then the information sticks in the queue information. Running lpq on the Samba system shows: # lpq -a no

Jobs stay in WinXP-Printer-Queue, never processed by CUPS
Hi! I've shared a CUPS Printer via Samba, Samba is connected to a Win2003 SP1 Domain to authenticate users. Most of the time all works nice, but sometimes there are errors. For example it seems that a WinXP client can't deliver the print-jobs to samba/cups anymore. The jobs just stay in die windows Printer queue. log.smdb: [2007/04/03 11:13:34, 2]

Finished print jobs are piling up on windows clients
Printing from windows clients to Samba through cups works perfectly but old (finished) print jobs are piling up in the print queue for the printer on the client side. I never had this problem with the clients when the server was running RedHat 6.2 with Samba 2.2.8 and LPD. The server has been replaced with a server running a RedHat Enterprise Linux rebuild (TaoLinux). The Samba version is

Finished print jobs, Samba 3.0.9
Has there been any further progress on the finished print jobs piling up issue? In the last few emails there was mention of a fix by Monday. Any updates would be greatly appreciated. If this is the wrong forum to ask about this please let me know and I will post to the correct forum. Marc Taylor

Samba shares lost from Windows/Mac after ~ 1 min
Hi, I have Samba 3.0.13 running on Suse 9.2 on an i586. I can browse and connect to the Samba shares on Windows XP and Mac OSX. However, about 1 min after connecting, the shares are lost and gone from the network environment - same for Windows XP and Mac OSX. The Windows shares mounted on the Linux machine work fine. Is this a know problem? Regards, Helge --- This is my smb.conf-file: #

webdav timeout
Hi, I tried to sync two files (50 MB and 100 MB) with my webdav folder using rsync 3.0.5 with Mac OS X (10.4.11) Terminal and X11. With the Terminal application the sync always failed with both files. With X11 I once was successful synchronizing the 50 MB file. The error message is always like this (also when I set the timeout to eg. 7200 seconds): io timeout after 1003 seconds --
