Installing Samba on Solaris
Hi, Last time I wrote, I recieved a follow-up from someone who told me to "read the manual". Since then I've discovered that we can't access the samba system files from the MACs with samba on Solaris. I've explained this to the supervisor and he feels nfs will be fine. (Although the file system is mounted on to a Solaris system from an Xserver which means we'll have to

no frills samba server

Right now I have the drafting office setup going from chapter two of the Samba 3 By Example book. My smb.conf is as follows: #########################3################### [global] workgroup = MIDEARTH security = SHARE [Plans] path = /plans read only = Yes guest ok =

Assistance request
Hi Samba team, first I want to appologize for this spam, you probably get tons of such messages per day. However I am desparate and sick of digging into newsgroups, mailing lists and everything else ;)) Since 1 year I am trying to find a way to make samba receive winpopup messages from Windows 2000, or Xp, using the "net send" command. Receiving messages from other linux machines

samba will not work for me... :/
I've had this problem since FreeBSD 4.3. This problem continues with my FreeBSD 4.4 machine. I can't connect from my Win98se and Win2kPro machines to my FreeBSD 4.4 Samba server. I've tried it all... but still no luck. I've run smbd and nmbd manually with the "-D" parameter. I can connect internally from my FreeBSD 4.4 box using "./smbclient

Apache config: Two different rails apps using same domain name (mod_rewrite issue)
The problem I''m solving here is that I have two different Rails applicatons that uses the same domain name. One handles the www (e.g. www.mycoolapp.com) and is used as the main site, and the other handles the user subdomains (e.g.. someuser.mycoolapp.com). The DNS stuff and the Apache virtual hosts were all set up, the two rails apps are in place in the file system, and the proper

SAMBA client extremely slow over WAN
Hello, When copying files using the RedHat Samba client over Network we experience file copy times 5 times slower than we experience with other SAMBA clients. As a test file we are using a 45MB file. Using a HPUX samba client to a windows file server it takes approximately 1 minute to copy this file. Using a windows SAMBA client also takes about 1 minute to copy the file. Using the RHEL

Network logon & slow connection issues
Hi: I am running Samba 2.5 because SCO's skunkware version of 2.6 just would not run. I am running SCO OpenServer 5.04, which I wish there was a smbclient so that I could perform more adequate server side testing. I am currently faced with three issues which I have not found solutions too. 1. I the log.user name I have found the users do connect to the server but the log is full of the

section 13.3.2 of the HOWTO shows that i can add a user to a group with the following command: root# net rpc group addmem "MIDEARTH\Engineers" ajt -Uroot when i execute this command (replaced with my server specific values, of course), i get a NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER error. i can verify that my user DOES exist and that he belongs to the posix group account. i can also verify that the

Odd Question
Hi! I'm kinda new to Samba (only been playing with it for a couple of days) and I have run into some problems: I've got samba up and running on a machine known as 'Mail'. Cannot connect from XP to Samba: Password prompt repeated
Fellow samba folk, This one's making me want to tear out what little hair I have left. THE *NIX PLATFORM: FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE, Samba 3.3.8. THE ENVIRONMENT: Small domain, Windows 2003 servers and XP-pro based workstations. The FreeBSD server is a member server in the domain, so at least that works. THE SYMPTOMS: This is bizarre. I can, using mount_smbfs on the FreeBSD side, easily

New installation does not show on network
Ever since installing Fedora 7, samba stopped showing the machine on the network. I can connect to it by entering the machine name (\\lazarus), but it will not show itself from a Windows machine. I tried a command suggested to test if it was listening and this is what I got; $ smbclient -L localhost -U% Domain=[LAZARUS] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.0.25b-2.fc7] Sharename Type

how to set valid allowed workstation logins
I'm having trouble setting the Workstations value on a tdbsam backend using pdbedit. I can't seem to find the correct syntax to accomplish this. I found some references in an older version of the HOWTO where there existed "Chapter 10. Account Information Databases". This whole chapter is missing from the current HOWTO even though it is referenced in the newest version (a

floating point in single precision
Hello, is there a possibilty in R to convert numbers (double precision, 64bit) into single precision ones (32bit). I need that for compatibility reasons. Until now I call a C application which casts a double to a float. float precision32(double value) { return (float)value; } But I want to use a R only method. What can I do? Kind regards, Sebastian

Fixed Point on wideband-mode: Single Frame loss on 2000 Hz sine causes "freak off"
Hi, I'm quite sure we found a bug inside the codec (1.2rc1, wideband mode). It only occurs when speex is compiled with the FIXED_POINT flag. I feed in a 2000 Hz sine wave (-15 dBFS). When I simulate a single frame loss (i.e. pass a null pointer to speex_decode_int as second parameter for just one frame), the decoder starts to freak out a second later: It produces horrible noise with 0 dBFS.

Fwd: Fixed Point on wideband-mode: Single Frame loss on 2000 Hz sine causes "freak off"
An update: I found that the "ADD32: output is not int:" messages are caused by the enhancer. When I turn the enhancer off, the messages vanish, but the "freak out" of the codec is still there - so the problem seems not to be related to the overflow messages. best regards, Frank ---------- Urspr?ngliche Nachricht ---------- Von: Frank Lorenz <Frank_wtal at web.de> An:
