: Win XP Client does not remove directories
Hello mailinglist,
I have a strange problem, which occurs sometimes on some WinXP clients.
It is not 100% reproducable for me, but it returns regular.
The problem is, that somehow a user can't delete a directory. All files
in the directory will be removed successfully, but the directory itself
not.
Deleting with the Explorer or over the cmd-console returns in the same
result.

share is read-only since 3.0.3 - "access is denied"
Hi,
I've a samba-3.0.2a running perfectly on redhat-8.
Filesystem is EXT3 with ACL support.
I can't upgrade the PDC to 3.0.3 or 3.0.4, because shares are only
read-only.
In 3.0.3 only home share and temp share are writable.
All other shares are in read-only mode. Users can see the files/directories,
but can't save anything or create new items.
When trying to create a new item -

XP clients unable to read user profiles (2.2.3a-14.1)
Hi everyone,
thanks to John Terpstra's hint (teh old thread started with Msg
crn5v6$sh8$1@sea.gmane.org), our xp clients now do
join the domain :-).
However, they still fail to read user profiles which were created by
the old Win98 clients.
The relevant parts of smb.conf look like this:

I have a Red Hat 8.0 PC with a scanner connected and I am scanning images with

directory security preferences work.
I can attach to the share (called "Shared") with:

Access Problem
Hi
I have samba running on AIX 5.2 and I have broken something recently and
I'm not sure what. Other members of my team are able to use it as per
normal, but for me whenver I try to access a share via windows (2000) I
get \\share\folder is not accessible. Access denied.
If I look in the log file for my computer it looks like:

Cannot read strange filenames
Hello List,
on a windows-pc are files with an EURO-Sign "?" included in the
filenames. This is working between all XP and 2000 Clients.
But if i try to access such a file from a linux-box, I cannot read this
files. I switched to the german charset with EURO Sign but no success.
Then i tried the cifs instead of smbfs. But the same effect. Switching
to UTF-8 doesn't work too.

When opening a file it takes up to half a minute!
Greetings,
in our small network with about 10 Clients I got a problem when opening
files or directories. If there were no actions between server and client
for about 2 minutes or more, the very first action (open file, change path,
etc) needs a long long time.
The problem occurs on some clients (win 2k/xp), but not on every client. I
tried a working smb configuration from home, but still no
