Weird permissions issues with samba shares and XFS
Hi, We are trying to deploy samba sharing on Centos 7.4, linked to windows 2016 AD for authentication. We are having an issue related to permissions where different directories with seemingly the exact same permissions cannot all be accessed from smbclient. I was hoping somebody could help me figuring this out. We have the following structure: 1. one LVM2 volume on /dev/storage/test (XFS)

windows doesn't show groups in security tab of file properties
Hello, I've a Samba 3.0.23c-SerNet-Debian PDC (no BDC or anything) connected to OpenLDAP. I thought it would work smoothly, I didn't discover any problems until today. I'am trying to create a ntconfig.pol with poledit, but it doesn't show me any groups to add to the policy. I can see all the users by the way. To eleminate a poledit problem I used the security tab (in german

Unable to modify folder share permissions on member server
Hello, Following along with the wiki at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_and_configure_file_shares_with_Windows_ACLs I'm attempting to make changes to groups or users under the security tab. When changing I receive the following error. "An error occurred while applying security information to: \\pfmember1\gates123 Access is denied" The only way I can make changes is

smb.conf username map entry does not work
Hi folks, I have got the following setup: OS: CentOS 7.5 1804 in a HP DL120 server Samba AD member server with standard Samba 4.7.1 from the CentOS 7.5 distribution. I have got a problem that the "username map" entry in smb.conf does not seem to have any effect at all. In the mapping file there is a mapping from Administrator to root. But when I run id Administrator I do not get

Upgrading from 3.0.23 but group_mapping.tdb is empty on current config
Hi all, I've done a serious amount of reading around this but I still can't figure out the implications of what I'm seeing. I have inherited a CentOS 4 Samba 3.0.23 PDC & file server for 40 hosts that has been through the wars. It is standalone and stable and uses the smbpasswd file authentication backend, however I need to upgrade for Windows 7 support. I intend to build a

where is an explain of the tdb -files in Samba?
Hi. At looking for a solution of a problem with samba, I cant find a explain of what contains the .tdb-files. Okay, the secret.tdb contains the Domain Sid. What else? The group_mappings.tdb contains now in Samba 3 the translation from unix-Groups to windows groups. What are the defaults? The connection.tdb is the intern table of what smbstatus show me. (Is this correkt?). Why are there a
