Winbindd crash after upgrade to 3.0.7
Hey all. I've just upgraded my samba to the latest binaries from the Samba site. After the upgrade, without touching my smb.conf winbindd crashes just after startup. I'm running Version 3.0.7-1.1-SUSE , from the samba.org rpms. PDC is a Windows 2003 Server box. Running 3.0.6 I was experiencing a problem where user authentication to the w2k3 was lost a few minutes after starting smb,

Cannot enable "Enable advanced printing features"
Hi all. I'm trying to use Samba to replace an old Windows print server, and everything works just like a charm - almost... There's one thing, which prevents my organization from accepting this new printerserver, and that is that I'm unable to activate and save the "Enable advanced printing features" setting for the printers - this is used to allow for printing multiple

"Advanced Printer Features" in Samba 3.0.7 / Cups 1.1.20 ...
Hello, I recently figured out, that it is impossible to activate the "Advanced Printer Features" of any printer attached to a samba server. The idea was simple: set up a cups print server, create raw printers, publish them via Samba and distribute corresponding driver files. Everything works fine, except of the general setting for the "Advanced Printer Features". Root is able

Fax server (TxFax) fails during transmission
I'm having an intermittent problem with fax transmissions, something I call the streaking mascara syndrome. TxFax will be part way through a transmission when something fails--on the fax printer, part of the page will have correctly printed, but the rest of the page is "streaked" to the bottom. I have several successful multi-page transmissions interspersed with streaked

Redhat 8 printcap
Baxter, I could be wrong, but I thought /etc/printcap was the config for bsd style printing - not cups. Printer Owner not valid in Windows
Hi all. I have a trouble with my SAMBA 2.2.3a-12 (I'm running a Debian Woody). I have a printer conected by LPR to my printer server. GNU/Linux prints ok using lpr printer server. When I share the printer to my MS Windows Network the printer owner of the printes in Windows Machines is root\printersNEW instead of Administrator\Win2kPC, where printersNEW is the samba server and the Win2kPC is

A little help w/ Debian Samba and XP clients
Hi list. I'm a Marine based near San Diego CA and I'm trying to setup a Libranet/Debian box as a file and printserver. The main goal is printing right now. I have good connectivity (ping and resolve by NETBIOS name). I have enabled File and Print Sharing on my Windows clients as well as making the appropriate entries in my hosts file. NETBIOS is aslo enabled as well as using the

Redhat 8 printing problems Printcap?
Hi list. I'm having problems w/ printing using Samba on Redhat 8. Shared drives work fine yet my CUPS printing doesn't work. I sure appreciate any input. For what it's worth, I couldn't find any printing related errors in /var/log/samba/. I notice that the printcap doesn't have a sub-directory named cups like my old Debian box. Could that be it? Here's my smb.conf

"advanced printing features" setting not saved
Hello, we run SuSE8.2 with Samba 2.2.7a-78 (SuSE's own version?!) and Windows XP clients. After an update to 3.0.0, everything works well (user access on file services and printing), but we can't save the "advanced printing features(?)" (german: "Erweiterte Druckfunktionen aktivieren") flag (WinXP -> Settings -> any printer -> Advanced) anymore. This holds

Advanced Menu features
Hi All, I hope to find some time to work on the Advanced menu system. I personally no longer have a need for it (changed jobs). Since I dont want to spend time doing stuff which will not be useful, I would to know what features you would like. What I have in my list are * Eliminate the need to compile each menu into its own .c32 file * Eliminate #define constants in menu.h which impose various

[lld] Well lld support some advanced features like gnu linker in macOS?
Hi, llvm developers. I can't find a lld-dev mail list, so just mail to here. ld in macOS is legacy, lld a more modern linker. I have test, `-fuse-ld=lld, -Wl,--as-needed `, but its output is: /usr/local/bin/ld.lld: error: unknown argument: -dynamic /usr/local/bin/ld.lld: error: unknown argument: -arch /usr/local/bin/ld.lld: error: unknown argument: -search_paths_first

to print. Contained within each document was the code (postscript is a computer language which runs on some printers.) to output multiple copies. That is, samba has no influence on the number of copies printed, at least with postscript printers. So, maybe this is a driver problem, not a samba problem? Shifting now to pure speculation, maybe the windows client computer and the printer need to

Can't add printer drivers.
I am having quite some difficulty adding printer drivers to the print$ share of my Linux box. Here are the details: Debian Gnu/Linux with kernel 2.4.18 on a Sun Ultra 2. Samba version 2.2.3a. CUPS version 1.1.19. I am following along in the printer_driver2.txt file. Here are the relevant lines of my smb.conf: [global] username map = /etc/samba/user.map workgroup = CDE server string = %h

What am I missing here?!
OK, I've tried changing my printcap name from printcap to cups. Printing works fine locally using CUPS on the Samba box. What am I missing here? Why can't I print to the Samba box via the Windows and linux clients? Shared directories work fine. I am really frustrated here and have exhausted Google and all other resources I have. Here's my smb.conf for what it's worth.

Advanced conference features, meetme2?
Hi, I have been playing about with meetme as a conference bridge, and find it lacking in some features which I believe are out their somewhere. Viewing this wiki page http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+MeetMe2+Design it looks like a plan happened, but where is meetme2 at now? Things like recording a conference, allowing callers to adjust volume, allowing the conference to be locked, having

Hig cpu-usage on 3.0.24 on 64bit Debian etch
I'm having an issue with cpu-spikes on the following setup Samba 3.0.24 as PDC with cups as the printing system on a Debian Etch 64 bit version Intel dual-core system My main problem is, that everything works just fine, there are no serious errors in the log files, even if i step the log level up to level 3. What happens is that the processes belonging to the guest-account have occasional
