Questions on VFS modules (audit)
Hello,
I'm configuring Samba 3.0.6 on Debian stable, after using version 2.2.8a
for a while.
I have some questions on VFS modules, which could be summed up into a
single big question: is there any documentation about them, other than the
few paragaphs in the official howto?
Now for the single questions:
1. audit: its output goes into syslog, no options to change this, right?
And also no

VFS Extended Auditing Module Debug Information
Folks,
Given recent discussion on this list I have just updated the master Samba-Docs
information regarding the Debug Class (Log Level) settings and the audit
information each causes to be logged. This will appear in on-line versions of
the Samba-HOWTO-Collection within 24 hours. To obtain an updated version

Updating System Policy Templates
Hi all,
I am going to be in the process of updating my custom system policy
templates (probably within a month or two) and I am asking for what
policies anyone is in need of to help them deploy samba as a domain
controller.
Currently I basically have a single template.adm file, a few people have
asked me to separate them into a few different files that would serve an
overall single purpose - I

User audit logging
Hi
I have setup user auditing with extd_audit and its working fine , i
have it logging to log file = /var/log/samba/%U.%m.log and that is
great for identifying the users and machines ...But the syslog entries
don't have a username or host information and I want to use syslog to
ship the logs to a central logging server. Can I configure it to log
username and hostname (or ip) to syslog with

Delay opening office files
Hi,
we're running a pretty old samba server (Suse 7.0, Samba 2.0.7)
authenticating against a NT server and it always worked fine. Never
change a running system?
Since we switched our clients to win2k, we sometimes have delays opening
office files. The delays occur irregularly, 4 or 5 times a day and take
up to 1 minute. I wonder if this might be an authentication problem.
If anyone has

Log level and debug classes
Hi, I quote from the smb.conf man page:
------------------------------------
log level (G)
The value of the parameter (a astring) allows the debug level (logging
level) to be specified in the smb.conf file. This parameter has been
extended since the 2.2.x series, now it allow to specify the debug level
for multiple debug classes.

Example: log level = 3 passdb:5 auth:10 winbind:2

win2000 service pack 4 - samba 2.2.2
Hello,
At 5pm today, we had an individual notify me that their 'profile' no longer was
accessible from the samba server (solaris 8 , smb 2.2.2). The person just had
their laptop reimaged and the new M$ service-pack 4 was installed on it.
They can access their 'home directory' just not the profile one. Error is
concerning the user not having access, versus rights. I installed the

VFS Extended Auditing output situation
Hello,
I'm using Samba 3.0.10 as file server and PDC for some Win2000 Pro
clients, and I'd like to get detailed and clear logs of file/dir
creation/open/save/deletion on some shares. The standard logs are a bit
"too much" for me. The ideal would be a well balanced setting of the
extd_audit VFS module, but when trying, some months ago, I discovered it
behaved differently than

Big problems with 3.0.24-6etch6 Debian packages
Hi,
I'm using Samba as a PDC with roaming profiles on a Debian Etch machine,
the clients are Windows XP/2000 machines.
I just installed security upgrades with aptitude, and this upgraded all
samba 3.0.24-6etch4 packages to 3.0.24-6etch6 (except for samba-doc
which was upgraded to 3.0.24-6etch7).
Immediately after the upgrade, my users could not load their profiles at
login anymore. Errors

Access denied
Hello,
Samba 1.9.16p11 on Sun OS 5.6
For a NT4 Server SP4, I can not access to the samba server. When I look
at the log.MachineName file, I see the error "password server not
avalaible".
I must say that it is working fine with an NT4 SP4 server on the same
domain with the same user account.
I have change the registry to authorize non-encrypted password.
......
Thanks.

[LLVMdev] Opinions Wanted: New asm Comments
I have a patch I'd like to commit that adds commentary to asm files
about which TableGen pattern generated a particular instruction. The
output looks like this:
cvtpd2ps %xmm0, %xmm0 # source.c:39
# Src: (intrinsic_wo_chain:v4f32 927:iPTR, VR128:v2f64:$src)
# Dst: (Int_CVTPD2PSrr:v4f32 VR128:v2f64:$src)

Just make it consistent so people who don't know their way around yet

I agree that binaries should be first if they should

phone emulator for doing interop testing
I'm looking for some software to do emulation of phones so that I can
test out a whole range of phones and their firmware revisions against
asterisk. Anyone know of something like that?
I'm hoping that the hardware vendors have something like that, and
_maybe_ I'm really lucky and they are using something somewhat standard
like qemu.
Cheers,

Suppressing log line for partials
I have a lot of partials, so I find that my production.log file gets
pretty cluttered and large quickly and it makes it more difficult to
use. I like most of the messages, I just don''t see a need for taking
up a line for each partial that is rendered. The logging is done in
action_pack in the log_subscriber file here:
class LogSubscriber < ActiveSupport::LogSubscriber
