NT_LOGON_FAILURE setting up a Linux BDC
Hi,
We're trying to set up a Red Hat 9 box as a BDC for a domain, the PDC for that
domain is another RH9 machine. To do it we're using samba 2.2.7a and openLDAP
2.0.7 in both machines. We've followed the instructions from the Samba-PDC-Howto
and Samba-BDC-Howto from the samba.org. The PDC works fine but when I try to
list the shares of the BDC using my user I get a NT_LOGON_FAILURE

Samba, winbind, krb5 Auth problem
Hi all
I'm actually trying to setup an AD authentication on linux workstations.
- I've setup an windows AD 2003 server, which work fine.
- I've setup linux redhat 4 enterprise server (used as a workstation for the moment)
- On the redhat, I already have setup smb.conf, krb5.conf, nsswitch.conf, pam.d/login, pam.d/system_auth. I have pasted all these files below.

winbind/gdm auth failure
Dear Samba-Users,
two problems to solve...
1) Trying to authenticate users via pam_winbind against
NT-PDC (samba 3.0.4, Debian GNU Linux 3.0). Got shell login
and ssh working, but won't be able to login via GDM to
gnome or KDE. I do not really understand the difference
between login/ssh module stack and gdm module stack. Log
auth says something queerish:

Member Server creates sambaDomainName LDAP entry
Short version:
Why does my domain member server create a sambaDomainName entry in LDAP?
Long Version:
I have created a Domain Member Server for a "NT4 style" Samba domain
with an LDAP backend.
It is a print server, running Winbind (because it solved a group SID
mapping problem and an 'invalid SID' error in syslog), and it works fine
in all other respects, but this:

AD Domain member not authenticating
I had samba working, then I tried (unsuccessfully) to setup ssh pam auth.
Now users are prompted for a password when accessing shares, but no password
works. I am using Redhat AS 3, samba-3.0.9-1, and krb5-1.3.
I forgot to backup pam file system-auth before modifying things, so I'm not sure if that is the problem.

Can't authenticate, from a linux client, against a samba PDC/tdbsam
Hi all,
Since September 2006, I've been using a samba PDC (3.0.20) with tdbsam, to
authenticate the users of a school network (90 XP boxes). All the users are
able to log in the network from XP boxes.
Recently, I've installed a samba client (K12LTSP) in the domain, but, I' ve
a problem getting linux client to authenticate against the Samba PDC. After

Adding columns to lower level of list
Dear List,
I have very little experience with lists and am having some very basic problems. I don't know how to add columns to the lower levels of a list, or how to take something from the upper level and add it as a column to the lower level. I am analyzing animal movement data in the package Adehabitat. I have a list of animal movements called "cut.ltr" (class ltraj) that have

winbind socket error
I'm attempting to authenticate domain users through httpd using winbind, and it is not working for me. I'm running FC4 on some older hardware with the 3.20 samba packages. My wbinfo commands all seem to work fine. I've tried these two /etc/pam.d/httpd files:
auth required /lib/security/pam_winbind.so debug
account required /lib/security/pam_winbind.so debug

Dovecot+LDAP lda problem
Hello everyone,
I need some help with Dovecot+LDAP config and local delivery.
We're using Dovecot 2.0.9 on Centos 6.4. Before, we used Qmail with the
same LDAP. Our LDAP accounts have the attribute
deliveryMode
which we used for mailing lists (OK, they are in fact mailing groups
rather than lists). When the attribute is set to
deliveryMode = nolocal
Qmail did not deliver mail to the

RedHat initialization script and bash2
Installing the new tinc on a system (Mandrake 7.0) that uses bash2 as it shell
turned up a problem with the redhat initialization script.
Attached is a patch to make it functional for both bash and bash2.

validates_format_of :url, regexp?
Hey,
Does anybody have a regexp for validating URLs? I found this one and am
trying to adapt it:
^(((ht|f)tp(s?))\:\/\/)?(www.|[a-zA-Z].)[a-zA-Z0-9\-\.]+\.(com|edu|gov|mil|net|org|biz|info|name|museum|us|ca|uk)(\:[0-9]+)*(/($|[a-zA-Z0-9\.\,\;\?\''\\\+&%\$#\=~_\-]+))*$

winbindd behaving oddly
Hello folks,
Been beating my head with an winbind and pam just behaving oddly. I have following
various HOW-TO's, wiki's, and docs, and just can't seem to get past a wall. Here a
some of the issues:
- the 1st attempt at ssh'ing to a server gives me a 'Wrong Password' in the logs. Here's
an exact snippet:

help with winbind/pam
Hello,
I'm trying to get a debian sid box to authenticate against an NT4
domain. I've followed the instructions in the winbindd man page and I
think I'm on the right track. However, I'm having problems with PAM.
As the winbindd man page suggests, I edited the /etc/nsswitch.conf and
added some winbindd related stuff to my smb.conf file.
I also edited the /etc/pam.d/* files.

ADS Domain Member Server + PAM problem
Hi all
I have set my Samba server up to join an AD realm. Winbind is working fine
and I am able to use it for authentication as needed. When I try to connect
to one of my shares via a Windows client, I get the following error:

AD logins using winbind looking for user in /etc/shadow
I'm running CentOS 4.3 with the most recent samba-client and samba-common
rpms. I've managed to configure samba/winbind to allow me to join the box
to the AD, create the UID and GID mappings, etc. However, when I try to
connect via ssh, the account cannot log in. /var/log/messages says the
following:

samba 3.0.33 / AD / winbind / no users returned from nested groups
Hi all,
I've not found a search that addressed this problem I'm seeing with 3.0.33
(Centos 5.3 3.0.33-3.7.el5), and before I go further down the diagnostic
process, I thought I'd check if what I am doing is supposed to work.
I have an install of Centos 5.3 connected to active directory, using winbind
& idmap_rid (it is only serving files via samba).

How to support idmap_rid on Fedora Core 3?- RESOLVED
Resolved: I was not able to compile then make install and have work so I
ended up using the FC3 packages and adding only the freshly compiled
idmap_rid module.
Thanks for the help.
