Saving files with MS Word to samba3 server is very slow!
Hi! I'm currently hunting a strange problem and looking for help! I have a samba3 fileserver (currently samba-3.0.20b, but problem can be reproduced with samba-3.0.7, but _not_ with samba2 like 2.2.8a), and I see performance problems when writing files with MS word 2002 SP3 from a NT4.0 (SP6a) workstation. Saving even the smallest file takes more than 10 seconds! Copying files with Windows

[LLVMdev] Lots of regtest failures on PPC64/Linux

What standard C++ library are you building against? > I disabled assertions and the number of failures halved but Debuginfo failures looks very weird. Don't know if it helps to debug the issue at hand.

Tr: RE: Samba 2.2.5 and printers
Ok, I solved the problem by myself. The problem was that the users with wich I tried to connect to the printer where defined as admin users, and I declared root as an invalid user in the samba configuration, so it always give me an access denied because it tried to connect as root. Anyway thanks for the time you waste trying to help me ;-) ----Message r?exp?di?---- >Date: Thu, 27 Jun 2002

Nonfunctional linux/CIFS mounts after update (ADS / windows DC auth)
I have been running in loglevel 10 and looking at the logs, but as I said in my initial post the credentials function fine with nautilus. Appended is a connection log snippet where samba walks through a cascade of authentication methods and finally fails. Earlier in the log, samba successfully determines which domain controller to talk to and pulls its information. However, just before the

rsync 3.0.7 hangs with unreadable hard-links files
Hello rsync list I've stumbled across a fairly obscure situation in which rsync hangs -- it just waits until I press ctrl-C. Here's a transcript. Note that directory foo contains two small files that are hard-linked together, and are unreadable. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- $ uname -a Linux ferox 2.6.35-28-generic-pae #50-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar

Samba server 3.0.7: "Short read when getting file"
I am running a Samba server on Debian testing. Each day, I run an automatic update via apt. Up until recently, the server was working fine; I am assuming that the update has upgraded to a non-working version. I can log onto the server using smbclient and browse the files, but when I issue a "get" command I get the "Short read" error message. If I use smbmount, things are

3.0.7 server "NetBIOS over TCP disabled -- no workgroup available"
win2k/XP clients can access this fine, but not NT clients. Samba is listening on the netbios-dgm/ns ports and there's no packet filtering: udp4 0 0 atarashii.netbios-dgm *.* udp4 0 0 atarashii.netbios-ns *.* udp4 0 0 *.netbios-dgm *.* udp4 0 0 *.netbios-ns *.*

Change from 3.0.6 => Rails 3.0.7 "no such file to load -- action_mailer/railtie"
In my application.rb, I have this: #require "rails/all" require "action_controller/railtie" require "action_mailer/railtie" require "active_resource/railtie" require "active_model/railtie" (I didn''t want ActiveRecord) This worked fine up to 3.0.6, but now fails with: /Users/jeffdeville/Documents/code/ruby/wg/config/application.rb:6:in

Dos Name mangling under 3.0.7
Hi, I'm trying to get my samba to force 8.3 compliant names to lower case, but they stay upper case. I've tried adding mangle case = yes, but testparm reports unknown parameter, while it is in the man page. Was this a known issue? should I upgrade? share definition [sys] path=/sys writable=yes force user = advantage preserve case = yes default case = lower mangle case = yes short

samba-3.0.7-1_rh9 - where do I get swat to go with the new release
We need to upgrade from samba2.2 in order to support xp clients. I downloaded and installed samba-3.0.7-1_rh9.i386.rpm but found that I had disable samba-swat. I used synaptic to try to update it but found only the current 2.2 release (same for samba-client and samba-common. I did notice that samba-3.0.7-1.i386.rpm with matching samba-client, samba-swat and samba-common were available for download

Samba 3.0.7-2 and IIS6
Hi, we are using Samba as a network attached storage server for our web- servers, and have an oddity with Windows 2003/IIS6 where some of the sites seem to lose their connection for short periods of time (up to about 1/2 an hour at most). During this time the web server reports either a 500 or 401 error. There doesn't appear to be anything in the Samba logs that indicated any problems - has

Editing file changes its owner (Samba 3.0.7).
Hello !! When a user edits a file belonging to another user and then saves the file he becomes the owner of that file. Both users belong to the same group and the file can be read or written to by the group members. Server: Red hat 9, kernel 2.4.20-31.9, Samba 3.0.7, unix extensions enabled Client: Red hat 9, kernel 2.4.20-31.9, shares mounted via smbfs or cifs (the same behaviour). Is

Inplace upgrade 2.2.12 -> 3.0.7
Hi All! A feww weeks ago I upgraded one of my customers from 2.2.7a to 2.2.12. I chose the download and compile for 2.2.12 so that I had full control over what was going on and where the new version would live. This went very well until I found missing bits and pieces like smbpasswd etc etc. They live in new places on 12! I could quite happily swap between the two versions by killing the smbd

Rails 3.0.7 ActionMailer attachments
Hello, I''m converting my 2.3.8 application to 3.0.7 and have run into a snag with forwarding emails from the app with an attachment. The attachment appears in the email as 1 byte in size and thus corrupt. The actual file is fine and Rails seems to have access to the file. I''ve tried multiple permutations but here''s what I''m doing... I''m fetching email
