Request - adding recycled "lwd" parameter to polygon
Hello dear members of R-help and R-core mailing list, I am not sure if this request is a "ticket" that should be filled somewhere outside the mailing list. If so, I apologize for not doing and would like to know where I should have filled it. And to the subject matter: I would like to use a command like this: plot(c(1,8), 1:2, type="n") polygon(1:7, c(2,1,2,NA,2,1,2),

btrfs qgroup assign -> "ERROR: bad relation requested"
I''m trying to use this feature of qgroup: btrfs qgroup assign <srcid> <destid> <path> Assigns the lower level qgroup src to the higher level qgroup dest in the btrfs found in <path>. It is used to build qgroup hierarchies. However, I fail to understand how this feature should work, and I''m getting "ERROR: bad relation requested":

Samba 3.0.x and high processor utilication caused by /etc/passwd access
Hello together, since upgrading on samba 3.0.x (issue happens with all 3.0. release) the cpu-load on my samba PDC ist constantly near 100%. The cpu power ist consumed by all running smb-processes. Systrace shows me that the smb processes tried to access to /etc/passwd on a permanent basis. My question is: Why tries samba to access etc/passwd so often and produces this high cpu-load? Regards,

3.0.8 and looong logout time
I've got two WinXP SP2 users. Roaming profiles. One of them takes about 25 seconds to log out unless she has made pretty drastic changes to her profile (My Documents, etc). My second user takes upwards of 3 minutes to log out, even if he has just logged in, not opened a thing or made changes, and then logged back out. Below is part of a strace as I don't know what I'm looking

open/stat64 syscalls run faster on Xen VM than standard Linux
Dear all, When I debugged the execution performance of an application using strace, I found there are some system calls like open and stat64 which run faster on XenLinux than the standard Linux. The following is the output of running "strace -c /bin/sh -c /bin/echo foo" on both systems. An open call runs averagely 109 usec on standard Linux but only 41 usecs on XenLinux. An stat64

smbd high cpu load
We have a Linux file server for a set of computer science and engineering labs where each lab contains machines running Mac OS X, Ubuntu Linux, or some incarnation of Windows. At times the these machines become almost unusable and I think I have narrowed the problem to smbd processes soaking up all the CPU on the server. Running 'top' on the server reveals a dozen or so entries like

Samba 4 slow write
Hi Jones, many thanks for your reply. Yepp, I'm using ACL's (Posix ACL's) on filesystem to regulate the access of users for files and directories. Do you mean that this is the "normal" way? These geteuid and getegid system calls are so slow? On the previous system (Debian Wheezy, Samba 3) I've also used ACL's, but there were much faster than this... What should

Problem with Share Size
Hi all, I have a problem with samba : I can create files, but can't create directories. The server has many shares, on seperated disks. We consider two of them : one 2Tb share and one share with more than 7Tb. Samba configuration is good, and works on many other servers, and on this one except for the large share. Permissions are correctly setted up too. I can read/write files and

nmbd dying
nmbd has been dying on me occasionally. I'm running mandrake 9.2 with samba3-server-3.0.0-2mdk. We've got our users in ldap but I'd seen this symptom previously when I was using an earlier version of samba that didn't support ldap. There is nothing useful in the logs and a PS shows a nmb process still running. This last time around, I had a ptrace running on both nmbd

smbd+ldapsam infinite loop, cpu=100%
Hello, We have been running samba v2 for quite some time without any problems. But after the upgrade to samba-3.0.5 some anomalies have come out. I've compiled it with LDAP authentication support; the LDAP server is installed on the same machine and the communication is done via sockets. After working fine for some time, and as usual creating multiple threads from the smbd proccess, it

smbd could not access share directory on drbd (8.3 on Centos 5 i386)
Dear, all. I am pulling my hair because I could not find any error messsages that could point me to a fix to my problem. The directory I want to share was mounted on /home with drbd and heartbeat but then my users could not access any shares / their home directories. However, if I set up shares else where on my box like share under /opt or /usr/local, then the same users would be able to access
