Clean install of RedHat 7.3, including samba - unable to connect to port 139
I did a clean install of Redhat 7.3 on a system. The install
included samba, samba-client, samba-common. I moved the saved
versions of smb.conf, smbusers and swbpasswd to /etc/samba. Then I
started up smb by issuing "/etc/init.d/smb start" I have set smb to
start upon reboot of the system. I have rebooted the system
several times. smbd and nmbd start up, but clients cannot

Re: tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD - fixed
Thank you. Thank you, Michael.
I saved smb.con, smbpasswd, and smbusers.
I stopped smb.
I deleted the three samba packages from the system.
I re-installed the three samba packages (2nd cd of the set)
I moved my configuration files back in /etc/samba
I started smb and everything works.

tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD
I am still struggling to get one of my samba servers to work with the
new security on RH 7.3. Any help is appreciated.
The "not fully working computer" serves as a print server for the
Window computers. You can log into it, but you cannot see it from
the Network Neighborhood. On some versions of Windows you cannot
find it through the "Find Computers" programs.

printers don't show up as shares
Hi all,
I have been using Samba 3.0.2a-1 on Debian for a while now, no
problems. I upgraded to 3.0.4-5 and now I can't see any printers as
shares. I have tried everything I can think of with smb.conf and still
no printers show up. Below is my smb.conf and printcap files, does
anyone know what's wrong here?
Thank you in advance,
Darren

Hi
I've got some problems with the download of Adobe PostScript printer
drivers on a Windows 98 client :
On the server side (Red Hat 9 / Samba 3.0.1 / Cups 1.1.17) :
I installed succesfully my printers with Cups and they work fine on Linux
I ran cupsaddsmb tool to copy the Adobe files in the [print$] directory
which gives this result :

slow access to shared printers
Hello,
I've a printing performance problem using samba 3.0.14a
(tested on both fc4 and debian). Accessing to the properties
of a shared printer takes ~9 seconds, while it takes only
4 seconds when accessing the printer directly.
Tested with both windows XP and win 2000.
It's a raw queue setup using cups, printer are accessed
using the embedded lpd.

Samba 3.0 / Cups - Shared Printers vanishing
Hi!
I am using Samba 3.0.4 + CUPS as a print server for a lot of windows
machines. Since some days, all shared printers are gone every morning.
Printers are still accessible in CUPS, but if you open a windows
explorer and view the shares of the print server... there's nothing.
Printing also does not work.
Restarting samba & winbind solves the problem until the next morning.

General question about sharing HP printers via Samba
Hi List,
We have a few HP printers here in the network. Some of them had been
shared on the old samba3 server as cups ps printers, some as raw cups
queues with windows drivers shared via samba.
Thought it's time to simplify thins and use universal drivers (which
works fine for kyocera and brother printers) with raw cups queues. With
HP Universal it seems to work well with Windows XP but

CUPS printers not visible, strange behaviour
Hello all,
I've done this before before so I'm a bit confused, but I've upgraded from 2.2
to 3.0.4 on a debian woody box (samba 3.0.4 from backports.org). I also have
cups 1.1.20 backport as well. I've set up printing using cups (should be simple
right?) but no printers appear when I browse the computer from a W2k machine.
rpcclient -c "enumprinters" gives me "No

"Unable to display security information" on windows printers security tab
Hello,
I just installed RHEL3 on a brand new server, with samba and cups. The
packages used are RHEL3 official RPMs samba-3.0.9-1.3E.5 and
cups-1.1.17-13.3.32.
I configured samba with security = ADS, and i can authenticate my
users on our windows domain AD; everything works fine with files and
shares, etc.
When i configure a cups printer, and then export it to samba, i can

Problem in sharing printers
Hi.
I've configured a Samba PDC controller on which I've configured a couple of printers using Cups.
I've set up the relevant config according to the documentation, so:
load printers = Yes
printing = cups
printcap name = cups
[print$]
comment = Printer Drivers
path = /dati/samba/drivers
browseable = yes
guest ok = no

Samba, CUPS and Windows Printer Queue
I've had a Samba 3.0.2 Print Server running for nearly 7 months now without
too much of a hitch on RedHat Enterprise "ES" 3.0. Late last week, RedHat
issued an Errata that moved Samba from the 3.0.2 base to the 3.0.4 base. So
when I did the "up2date" this weekend as part of my normal maintenance, this
server was updated and everything appeared to be fine.
