Os X and Win clients to SMB 3.0.10 server - how to hide ._ files from win clients only
Hello group, I am working on a test installation of Samba 3.0.10 on FreeBSD 5.3 as potential solution to some of our current file server problems. One of the main ones being good 'ole Win2000 Services for Macintosh - which we would like to dump completely. Here's the situation. We have a handful of Mac machines, all recently taken to 10.3.7 (10.3.8 upgrade is pending) which currently

Problem with "include=smb.%U.conf"
Hi, Does anybody know why Windows clients can see shares that are defined by the "include=/etc/samba/smb.%U.conf" option in but Mac OS X and Linux Samba clients cannot see those shares? In other words, I have a bunch of users. Each user has a set of his/her own unique shares on my Linux server that are defined in files called: /etc/samba/smb.User1.conf /etc/samba/smb.User2.conf

Active Directory Migration Tools - breaks samba 2.x.x?
Hi, We are migrating from an NT domain to a 2003 AD and using the migration tools to nicely move the users across. However, we have just realized that a user created manually can see a samba 2.0.6 server no worries, but a user that has been migrated using the Migration Tools gets an access denied. Anybody come across this one before? It's probably some bodj work around from

Melbourne Asterisk Users meet next Thursday
Hi all, If you're in Melbourne Australia and interested in Asterisk, you're invited to join us for a casual evening to talk about Asterisk, VOIP, networks, and just generally get geeky about IP phone stuff. Ultimately, I think it would be interesting and useful to turn this into a monthly get-together, so I'd like to talk about that too. Anyone with an interest is welcome; from

A probably silly thought but...
Not a silly thought. I've instead of spending x hunderd thousand on brandname ibm servers and sans, how you could create a RAID array of PCs running IDE hard drives. If a PC dies just plug in some more and rebuild. If you want to add more space just add more PCs. :) that would be cool. Obviously you wouldn't use it still for critical data like databases etc, but our user

Before declaring it not ready for prime time, did you try setting tls_ca_cert_file = /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt In the oauth2 configuration file as documented in https://doc.dovecot.org/configuration_manual/authentication/oauth2 ? Samba 3.0.4 + Veritas Backup Exec
Hi all, Wondering if anyone can help me here? Having just upgraded from Samba 3.0.2a to Samba 3.0.4, I've found that Veritas Backup Exec 8.6 is no longer able to browse my shares. A quick "make revert" and everything is back as it should be. The things I see in the samba log are like this: [2004/05/19 12:46:40, 1] smbd/service.c:make_connection_snum(619) titanium

xen-unstable-9514 and CONFIG_IA32_EMULATION
Hi guys, Maybe one of you quickly can tell me if the x86_64 kernel configuration option CONFIG_IA32_EMULATION is supposed to work under Xen? I''ve used an ia32 root file system together with CONFIG_IA32_EMULATION inside qemu-system-x86_64 for quite a while now (without xen). It works pretty well. However, when I try this with xen-unstable-9514 all I get is general protection errors...

NT Password did not match ! Defaulting to Lanman
We recently upgraded one of our AIX servers (AIX 4.3.3 on new hardware), on which we share documents via a SAMBA share, the samba version is at 2.0.6. Since that upgrade I have been getting calls from clients on multiple subnets having difficulty connecting, slow download/upload speeds, and getting their Microsoft domain accounts locked up. Upon review the log files for those complaining, I see

Dovecot Master User

I'm using this paper http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Authentication/MasterUsers as guidance. The Dovecot server A, is not letting me authenticate. Follow the testing and debug

Odd - some users can mount /home, others cannot
LS, What could cause the following situation: Most users CAN connect to their /home other users CANNOT connect to their /home and get the error 66 message. All users concerned are in the same group and thus share the same gid. I am aware of security stuff putting directories on 0777. Setup is: Win98SE Fedora2 Samba 3.0.3-5 Funny thing is that a smclient -U username \\\\server\username

Problems With DAHDI on Ubuntu
I have 2 separate Asterisk servers that are both exibiting this problem. 1 has a 4 port FXO digium card, the other an 8 port. For some reason when the machine reboots, the dahdi drivers are not properly loaded. Then asterisk ends up starting without dahdi support. I've tried everything that I can think of, even to the point of running dahdi_cfg in the asterisk startup script before
