install R under suse: packages dependency
Hi all
I'm trying to install R 2.3.0 under Suse 10.0. As I'm using SSH to login
into the SUSE server, I can't use YAST2, so I have to use rpm -i in the
shell. The system tells me that I need some other packages such as
xorg-x11-fonts-100dpi, blas, libgfortran.so.0(). Is there some website
where I can download and install these packages? Thanks a lot!

Suse Linux Enterprise 10 and Samba PDC
Hi,
I have SLES 10 running (after much searching, reloading, and trial and
error) a Samba PDC with LDAP.
I have tried to use the many Samba as PDC documents out there, but none
seemed to work.
I even tried one from the Suse Site geared for SLES 10, no luck.
I ended up using Yast2 to configure the server and get it running. It is
accepting workstations, and user connections with one problem.

Windows 2000 Suse 9.0
Hi,
PROBLEM : I'm not able to use the printer connected to a windows 2000
machine.
INSTALLATION: I have 3 PCs.
- One is a windows 2000 PC with the printer connected to it
- One is a redhat machine
- One is a Suse 9.0 machine.
The redhat machine is able to print to the samba printer, not the Suse
one.
smbclient -L //secretariat shows identical data on both Linux machines

Problem Installing R to SuSE 10 via RPM
Hi,
I'm trying to install R from an rpm locally to my account (the reason I'm
not doing it through yast/yast2/zypper is that the sys admin isn't yet
willing to install it, and doesn't want to support it, but will help me
support it if I install it locally -- in short, policy problems rather than
technical). Below is the SuSE version, Kernel version, and rpm install
error I'm

Installing Samba in a Suse 8.0 server machine
Dear friends,
I'm a newbee as in linux as in samba packages, and need a help (any site, tutorial, quick reference) to install and configure it (both linux Suse 8.0 and Samba).
I intent to install Suse 8.0 as a
login server (not a DHCP server cause IP is provided by a router)
file server
I thought to use Samba to administrate it.
Linux Suse 8.0 is already installed in the computer

SAMBA 3.0 joining Domain fails with SuSE rpm's
Hello,
I'm not sure if it's a bug - or I'm just too stupid..!?
Downloaded the Samba beta-code from ftp.suse.com/gd - rpm's for SuSE 8.2 (03/06/22). Installed all packages with no problems - samba works well, but integration in a W2K Domain fails. Kinit is successful but joining a domain brings up the following errors.

Xen boots to blank screen
It seems like there are several messages in the archive and in various
forums about this problem, but I do not see a clear course of action for how
to solve it. I am relatively new to Linux, compounding my problem. I just
built a new machine for the express purpose of running Xen so my girlfriend
and I could experiment and learn about different Linux distros. I am running
on an Intel DG35EC

loss of cups printer definition - suse linux pro 9.1 & samba 3.0.9-2.6-suse - small lan
On a working printer & system
I needed to change the printer definition on one of two systems each
with a printer [samsung laser and hplj4].
Yast2-printer stalled at 50% [loading configuration] and had to be
closed.
When I tried again the cups daemon died when trying to save the printer
definition.
I found that /etc/cups/ was empty!
Re-installing the printer function in Yast2 did not do any
