All our solaris servers are running Solaris 8 and we're using Samba version 2.2.2 First Question : Our Unix Admin guy has said that we can't upgrade our version of Samba as 2.2.2 is the latest version that Sun have

[OT] Fetchmail and Mutt help
Hi All, I setup Fetchmail and wanted to use Mutt to read e-mail. I used to use Pine and I just am sick of GUI e-mail clients these days. Bloat, complication and unreliable. Pine was my first ever e-mail client. I prefer to use POP still as I want may mail on my machine at all times. I can go into mutt and execute: 'fetchmail -v' and watch it bring down my e-mail. "@" doesn't work in the NT domain name
I am part of a large worldwide Active Directory and all of our individual site NT domain names have an ampersand symbol in them (for example: VWS@ROCHESTER) Samba 2.2.6pre2 and older won't join this domain name, or allow connections to it from users in this domain. The logs state that the domain name is "VWS_ROCHESTER", the code is squashing the @ to an _ causing all

Port to SCO Openserver with PAM enabled
Hi all, I'm writing to you becuase I have compiled PAM in SCO (now Caldera) Openserver 5.0.x, and when I tried to use SSH with PAM enabled, y realized that OpenSSH depends on the user to exist en the /etc/passwd, and /etc/shadow databases, or equivalent ones (it uses getpw...() functions to determine validity of the user). In Linux, the simlpe solution is to use nsswitch, but it seems to hard

Difference in Samba and CIFS interms of keeping the deleted files opened
Hi, We have a CIFS server running on a NetApp server and a Solaris host running Samba-3.3.2. When we mount both the filesystems to a Drive on a Windows using the net use command and then try to run a java program which basically does nothing but continuosly writes a data chunk to a file. On a side note, these same filesystems are accessible on a Solaris (unix) host too. When the java program is
