Winbind cannot find/connect to PDC.
Hi all. Funny thing happend: I had winbindd working, but now I can't get it back up correctly. I'm not sure what I'm doing differently. Samba version 2.2.5. 'wbinfo -u' says "Error looking up domain users". I joined the domain with the command: 'smbpasswd -j OUR_DOMAIN -r thepdc -U Administrator' and this returned saying "Joined domain

Winbind weirdness, seems to join wrong domain
Hi Samba/NT Domain controller newbie... please be gentle :^) I'm trying to configure a customer RH EL 3 server running samba 3.0.2 to use winbind to enable samba (and indeed sshd or telnet etc.) to authenticate users against MS NT Domain controllers.. The domain the samba server should join is named LEEDS, note that the NT systems (there are several BDC's on the local subnet) are out of

winbind/wbinfo not pulling info from W2K AD PDC
Hi list, I have samba-3.0.2-2 rpm installed on Redhat Enterprise Linux 3 AS kernel version. I've been using the Samba 3 How-To and messages on various mailing lists to join Samba to an AD domain and authenticate using winbind/pam. So far Samba has successfully become a member of the AD domain and can browse file servers using smbclient but I haven't been able to get winbind working -

winbind occasionally failing to find domain controllers for trusted domains
Hi there We have a bunch of Win2K3 trusted domains that are parts of other forests from our own Win2K3 forest. Most times Samba works just fine with allowing users from such trusted domains to connect to its shares, but now and then it "gets out of whack" and loses access/information about these "other" domains. "log level = 9" shows things like the following where

Winbind error "Could not fetch our SID - did we join?"
We did, in fact, join mere seconds ago, but for some reason, winbind still can't find itself. ADUC etc meanwhile have no trouble finding the newly added computer account. Wiping /var/{lib,cache}/samba/ (and the computer account) makes no difference, the error persists. How do I proceed? -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen, / Best Regards, Sven Schwedas, Systemadministrator Mail/XMPP sven.schwedas

Samba 4.11.6 cannot JOIN - 'Could not find machine account'
I'm still digging for the solution to this problem... The error seems to be triggered by some failure with talking to the NBTNS service (lmhosts) on the windows machine. (Port 137) Here is the section of the winbindd log where it fails to fetch the machine account: ... security = user vs security = domain and winbind trust
If you require and more information let me know and thanks in advance .. I'm working with dansguardian and squid with ntlm_auth. I join squid to the domain and it works for 7 days. After 7 days to the minute from the time I joined the server to the domain winbind decides it has lost its trust. And then squid cant utilize ntlm_auth as it requires winbind to function properly.
