Please evaluate my patch for Winbind
Yesterday I posted a problem report with some diagnostics. I seem to have found a solution on my own
and provide a patch here. [I didn't post this as a follow-up because nobody responded to my original post
and I wanted to make sure someone reads at least this one.]
The patch makes the winbind client (libnss_winbind.so) code more robust.

User groups
Wlcome in the club :-)
I wrote a topic "Limit of group membership for a user?" with the same
problem, and I don't have any answer by the samba team. I have the most
recent Samba 3.0.21b, OpenLDAP 2.2.28 and Glibc 2.3.6 version on a
Gentoo (kernel 2.6.15) and I have the same problem. I check the
NGROUP_MAX (65535) and the NSS_BUFLEN_GROUP (2048) value of the glibc.

Error starting Samba
Hello,
My samba was working until I changed some configurations in order for it to
work with ldap. However, samba won't start now, even after I returned to my
old configuration. Here is the error I'm getting:

Anonymous rsync + chroot + LDAP
[* I'm not on the mailing list, so please copy me on any replies; thanks. *]
I was running an anonymous rsync server with chroot (i.e. not overriding
the default) on a Fedora Core 2 system using flat files for
authentication, which I recently upgraded to Fedora Core 3 using LDAP for
authentication, and found that the anonymous rsync server wouldn't start
up. The problem when away if I

Samba-LDAP TLS problems with inofficial Debian OpenLDAP 2.2 packages
Dear Torsten, dear samba list reader
Three days ago I switched our domain from a NT 4 domaincontroller to
Samba-OpenLDAP, controlled by a Debian Sarge system. I installed the
following inofficial Debian OpenLDAP 2.2 packages (I know these are not
supported, but TLS with OpenSSL is essential to us...):
Package: slapd
Version: 2.2.20-1.hrz.1
Package: libldap2.2
Version: 2.2.20-1.hrz.1

Re: Trusting and trusted domain (home mapping) problem
Hi Igor,
I got stuck now. I did my best. I got stuck at the winbind which I suspected is the reason why the domainA_computer cannot map the domain_B user's home directory.
1. What are the settings of your winbind?
2. Do you use only "winbind" in your libnss_ldap or use "ldap" as well?
3. My winbind works with :-
(For both sides)
wbinfo -t
wbinfo -p
wbinfo -u

INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 11 in pid 8928 (3.0.23c)
Hello!
It seems my struggle with Samba isn't quite over. My latest problem is
exactly what you see above, followed by an attempt to core dump. This
occurs upon authentication to the system. My system is part of a W2K3
domain. I looked at the Samba HOWTO, but apparently I have a system
(FC5), that doesn't allow core dumps when the PID changes, since no core
dumps are being created.

Samba4 Member Server not working
Hi,
I have one Samba4 server running as Active Directory Domain Controller.
It's working like a charm.
So I needed to add another server to be a Member Server (File Server).
The server is running samba-4.0.9.
Configured and compiled ok:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/samba --sysconfdir=/etc
--localstatedir=/var --mandir=/usr/man --bindir=/usr/bin
--sbindir=/usr/sbin --libdir=/lib

Users can't login on Samba+Ldap
Hi,
I've migrated from an old samba installation (Samba as PDC) that used TDB
backend for password.
I've setup a box with ubuntu and samba 3 + ldap and I imported the old
users.
Old users works fine.
I have problems with new users and machines.
Old users works but they don't show up with smbldap-usershow command and
I've problem in changing their passwords. If I check the ldap

resolve this one and haven't made any progress :-(

PDC, usrmgr.exe created user lacks profile info
I'm finally near the end (I hope) of setting samba 3.0.14a as a PDC on a
debian sarge, but I (and google, and list archive) can't manage to find
a solution.
When I add user with the help of usrmgr on my XP box, user is created
both in linux and samba (thanks user add script), but lacks profile info
(I mean Home Directory, HomeDir Drive, Logon Script and Profile Path),
so roaming profile

This helped me a little bit forward. I suggest to add this line also to
samba-pdc help.
But still I ran into problems.
I fixed the passdb lines on PDC and BDC. If the second server (on PDC
