Hello, I have been failing to configure the pware compiled version of SAMBA 3.5.11, prepared for AIX 6.1, upon an AIX 7.1 system to work in an ADS domain and I wondered if anyone might be able to advise on what I should do next. I am trying to setup the AIX server as a file server within the ADS domain so that users can be recognised in an SSO configuration. I am pretty confident that the krb

Hi I have the following question: Joining Win200x as ADS/DOMAIN, I see no problems for windows users to get authenticated even if they don't have local accounts. However, with the same samba (3.06) joining NT4 SP6 domain I see that only users that also have entry in /etc/passwd are been authenticated. I followed winbindd traces and saw that there is no problem communicating with

Samba 3(PDC) + winbind, anyone has it working ?
Hi, I have reported this(and seen similar problems by others) before. I took the plunge today and trace into the source to see what happened. The result seems to be that winbind(or the nsswitch part) would never work in a PDC/BDC situation, only for other trusted domain(probably). Below is my analysis. I have setup nsswitch.conf and pam.d/login properly so libnss_winbind and pam_winbind are

Getting Samba 3 to communicate with Win2k3 ADS
I'm having a *terrible* time trying to get Samba 3 to communicate with my Windows 2003 Active Directory Server (the primary and only domain on my network). Basically this is what I'm trying to do: create a Linux File Server to replace my old WinNT 4 File Server. I would like it to show up under all my XP clients on network neighborhood just like the old server, with each account on my

Windbindd restarts and lost uids
We have a problem with our setup that exposed another problem in winbindd. Setup: Samba 3.0.1, openLDAP 1.2.23 for idmap backend using port 1389, security=ads (w2k). All works after we get the daemons started successfully. The first issue has to do with the initial setup of both a Samba server [smbd, nmbd, winbindd, slapd], and a Samba client [just nmbd and winbindd]. We do the

Cann't get Samba 3.0.0 installed on a SuSE 8.2
Hallo, after I got same error messages because of missing Kerberos, I deinstalled heimdal and installed Kerberos 5 (_devel, _libs, _workstation). I also made the necessary changes in the /etc/krb5.conf file and tested the connection with the Active Directory with the kinit ...@.... I also synchronized the time and so I get the tickets. Now I wanted to install Samba 3.0.0 on SuSE 8.2 and there the

Hey, I've troubles with a samba-installation ( version 3.0.2, HP-CIFS-Technologie Preview ) on HPUX 11i. I want to setup a fileserver within a customerenvironment connecting into a windows 2000 domain, which contains a lot of trusted domains. I have joined the domain already and wbinfo brings me the list of users and groups. Also within the winbind_imap.tdb I see some entrys which seems to
