[PATCH] Use krb5-config if avaialable for Kerberos parameters
Hi.
I've had this patch a while (and I posted an earlier version a while
back): it tries to use krb5-config to obtain the Kerberos build options.
If it's not available, or isn't in the path specified to --with-kerberos5
then the existing behaviour is kept.
It seems to work for me with MIT and Heimdal. I got some feedback from one
person, would any of the Kerberos-using folk care to

OpenSSH and Solaris SEAM/Kerberos
Greetings all,
I hope this is the right place to ask this question, if not please
redirect me. I'm compiling OpenSSH 4.3p2 on Solaris 9, and want to
compile with Kerberos5 support. However, since we are using Solaris
SEAM for Kerberos, I can't seem to specify "--with-kerberos5=PATH"
during configure because it doesn't look like SEAM's gssapi libraries
are all in

[PATCH] Re: Kerberos support for portable
Thanks, Simon for the MIT Kerberos5 patches.
FWIW, here are further patches which allow openssh-3.0p1 to work
with paleo-MIT Kerberos5 1.0.6, more or less (more with tickets
and less with the auth_krb5_password {get,verify}_init_creds stuff).
BTW, the patches I pulled out of the archive seemed to have some
line wrapping problems; I had to apply several chunks by hand.
I'm therefore including

OpenSSH and Kerberos / Active Directory authentication problems: Credentials cache permission incorrect / No Credentials Cache found
Greetings,
I'm working on the infrastructure of a medium size client/server
environment using an Active Directory running on Windows Server 2003 for
central authentication of users on linux clients.
Additionally OpenAFS is running using Kerberos authentication through
Active Directory as well.
Now I want to grant users remote access to their AFS data by logging in
into a central OpenSSH

openssh and SEAM (Kerberos)
I'm trying to get openssh to work with SEAM(Solaris
Enterprise Authentication Mechanism) on Solaris 9.
I have a few questions. Any help would be appreciated.
I am working with openssh 3.8.
1. First of all, does anyone know if it is possible
to get openssh working with SEAM?
2. Which options do i need to use when compiling
openssh? Do i need to use --with-kerberos5=kerbpath
or --with-pam

LDAP + SASL (kerberos) password syncing
I am getting a bit confused about which methods to use to keep my
passwords synced given the following scenario.
Samba PDC using LDAP backend.
LDAP uses {SASL}princ@REALM type passwords
Sasl mechanism is saslauthd using kerberos5
I can use pam like:
password required pam_smbpass.so
password required pam_krb5.so use_first_pass
and then passwd will set both passwords
but how can I make it

Compiling openssh-3.9p1 Without Kerberos
I'm trying to compile openssh-3.9p1 for an embedded Linux distro without
kerberos support. I pass the flag --without-kerberos5 to configure and
the script output indicates that I've chosen to not link against the
kerberos libs:
OpenSSH has been configured with the following options:
User binaries: /usr/local/bin
System binaries: /usr/local/sbin

3.0.2 works with kerberos 1.2.7 for a while, then stops
I installed RH9 and the RH9 binary rpm of samba-3.0.2a from the ftp
site. I added default_realm, kdc, and [domain_realm] sections to my
krb5.conf file because for some reason it can't get them from DNS
(haven't worked that out yet) and with a small edit of smb.conf was able
to join the new samba install to our 2k3 active directory. wbinfo -t
and kinit and stuff all worked as did getent

Clustering Question
Hi group,
My case has N physicians with each seeing M patients.
One physician could have seen a group of patients, or,
a patient could have been seen by multiple number of
physicians. In order words, there are overlaps. Now,
I have the following NxM matrix
Patient#1 Patient#2 Patient#3 .......
Patient#m
Physician#1 1 0 1 .......

What if my Windows AD Domain Controller Goes Down?
There are three DCs in my Windows 2003 AD domain, but I have noticed
that only one of them is referenced in my krb.conf and krb5.conf. Should
there be a reference to one or two of the other domain controllers? If
the DC goes down, how will my Samba/Winbind servers authenticate?

What is the right script: W2K AD, Solaris8-SMB/KRB/LDAP, Win Clients?
I'm so confused about the use of Samba.
This is my situation:
I have one Win2k domain with Active Directory. The
main network has only one PDC, but in others networks
I have 5 servers more, all under the same main domain
(I don't have subdomains).
I need to put some files in a Solaris 8 and 9
servers that Win2kPro and WinXP can to access, with
its domain accounts. Aditionally, I

Kerberos+Ldap+Samba+Cups
Hi all,
I installed a Linux box to enter in NT domain. I installed Kerberos5,
cups 1.1.23 and samba 3.0.24. I'm trying to integrate my box to print
in a shared printer in a Windows Server, using a kerberos ticket. I
put a URI: smb://192.168.0.3/printer?k=true in cups admin config, but
this not work. I get a error when restart in log.smbd:

Small patch for RPM spec file (kerberos)
I decided to try openssh 3.3p1 on my Mandrake box that's lacking a
complete install of kerberos. Installed the SRPM, ran rpm -bb
openssh.spec and it bombed. Made it through the configure stage and
moved onto compilation, where it barfed because it couldn't find the
kerberos headers (I had krb5-libs installed, but not krb5-devel).
Attached is a small little patch to the spec file to add

openssh-2.9.9p2 and kerberos 5
> does anyone know if openssh 2.9.9p2 works

There is code in 2.9.9p2 to do Kerberos v5 over the version 1 protocol.
This code doesn't compile by default on the portable version, and is Heimdal
specific.
I've got a set of patches (now completed, and being tested locally) which
add a --with-kerberos5 option to ./configure to set this up for

Kerberos support for portable
The attached patch adds support for Heimdal and MIT Kerberos in protocol v1
in the portable code. The Heimdal side of things just enables the code that's
present in OpenBSD's 3.0 release, the MIT specific code adds compatibility
for those areas in which the Heimdal API differs. This adds a new
configuration option --with-kerberos5=<path>, which will detect which version

Kerberos support for portable
My organization has a need to use protocol 2 + kerberos Real Soon Now,
so I've gone ahead and applied Simon's KRB5 patch to openssh-3.1p1.
I don't know how far along Simon is; for all I know he might have
the definitive patch out tomorrow. So FWIW, here's what I have now.
