Integrating Win2k3 into Samba PDC (on OSX 10.4.10)
I have a problem related to what I thought would be a fairly simple
procedure.
We have a working OSX Server 10.4.10 Open Directory system, with Windows
Services enabled via Samba as a PDC. We have joined approximately 20 WinXP
workstations to the Samba domain, and OD users can log into these systems as
expected (i.e. authentication works).
I have a Win2K3 server that was recently purchased and

SMB Signature problem against WIN2K3 server using samba3.0.0 release( Samba Developers Response requested)
There are many discussions about this problem, but none of the
developers of samba stepped in and gave any good explanation.
Is this solved in Samba3.0.0 official release? (In what's new section of
3.0.0rc4, the 14th point is win2k3 security settings related matter. Is
this the fix for SMB signature?)
In one of the discussions there is a mention of disabling security

Weird problem with ADS support - Samba 3.0.1 - win2k3
Ok, this one has me stumped...
I am implementing 3.0.1 on a new machine - Slackware 9 based.
Got everything compiled (OpenLDAP, Kerberos 5) and installed
Kerberos pulls the ticket without problem. The samba machine joins the domain
without any difficulties.
Here is where it gets weird. From the Win2k3 DC, I can not browse the samba
machine - won't recognize passwords. However, from

Any ideas?
Also, are there any yum repos where I can get a newer version of

authentication against win2k3 server
I've been trying to setup Samba to authenticate users against accounts
existing on a Windows 2003 Server without any backwards capability.
Ideally, this needs to be done without any changes to the Windows 2003
Server. Users will not be logging into the Samba shares at all. This
is merely for authentication.
I'm running FreeBSD 4.10-Relase #4 with Samba 3.0.8.
This is my smb.conf file:

Linux server & client in Win2k3 AD domain
Hello folks!
I am trying to make sure we can use Linux/Win2k3 mix in
my company. After reading up in the documentation I fealt
it sounded so good I would propably get there with little effort...
Well, halfway there I got fast enough. But that won't do...
I have successfully joined the AD-Domain from my Linux host.
And I also can authenticate a AD user in the Linux host.
I used nsswitch and

Trying to join a RHEL server to Win2K3 domain. I followed the directions
specified here:

SuSE 10.2 in a Win2k3 domain - odd lockout issue
I have a SuSE 10.2 machine that I have successfully
added to our Win2k3 domain. I can log in
successfully, and the DC logs show successful
authentication. I can see shares and everything seems
to be just fine.
The problem is, approx. every 24 hours, the DC will
mysteriously lock my user ID, and I will have to get
an admin to go in and unlock me. The DC is not
showing anything like three

Problem accessing win2k3 shares -- permission denied!
Hi all,
I couldn't access win2k3 server shares from my FC2 box. It's got default Fedora Core 2 installation.
Kernel: 2.6.5-1.358
Samba: samba-3.0.3-5
I've tried with both smbfs and cifs options. This is what happens,
With smbfs:
$ mount -t smbfs -o username=admin //ServerIP/sharename /mnt/sharename
password:
$
$ ls /mnt/sharename
ls: /mnt/sharename: Permission denied
$
$ ls -l

Quick question on joining a Win2k3 domain
All,
New to the list, but have used samba off and on over the years, though
not recently.
I just installed 3.3.3 on a FreeBSD 7.1 box, and joined it to our Win2k3 domain.
It seems to work just fine, though initially I got an error.
I did:
it-kbuff-fbsd# kinit _service@MYCOMANY.COM
Then
it-kbuff-fbsd# net ads join -U _service -S zad3.mycompany.com

llvm::PointerIntPair -- is this by design or a bug?
I do agree that sign-extension is the right thing to do. Unlike bit-fields, llvm::PointerIntPair has asserts checking that the int value is within range. So if you assign an out of range value, it should fail with an assertion:
llvm::PointerIntPair<SomeType*, 3, int> pip;
pip.setInt(7); // can be made to fail as the valid range
// of signed 3-bit values is [-4:3]
The above

and everything works just fine!
the enterprisesamba packages are what is broken.

The sign extension is correct. Otherwise setInt(-1) won’t work. If you don’t want sign extension, then use ‘unsigned’ and not ‘int’ in the template arguments.

I think it'd be reasonable to model this on the same behavior as int to
short to int round-tripping & not to speculate that there might be code
relying on the existing behavior until there's evidence of it.
I'd suggest changing the behavior & testing to see if anything breaks - and
if nothing does, moving to the behavior rather than supporting both.

can't join samba to win2k3 domain - please help
Hello, I've managed to join four other samba servers to win2k3 domains
in the past but I am stuck doing so with samba-3.0.23c_2,1. I've
verified hosts / domain forward and reverse lookups succeed. Below are
my configurations. I'm running FreeBSD 6.1-stable cvsupped as of Nov 17.
I've built Samba with the following options...
WITH_LDAP=true
WITH_ADS=true

How to setup a "secondary DNS server" pulling zones from Win2k3?
Hello,
we have a mixed environment at work: CentOS + Win2003 servers.
The Win2k3 part contains: AD, DNS (inlc. dyndns), DHCP, DFS, Exchange.
The CentOS part: NIS passwords + also a DNS server.
So currently we have to update the Linux DNS server
zone infos by hand: I export a text file from
Windows DNS server and then edit it around using vim.
On the Windows side however it's easy for me to
