Hi there,
I'm not able to get winbind to work, although searched google and studied
and tried nearly every howto
and forum entry on the net the last week.... it simply doesn't work and I don't understand
why....
My Samba3-Domain SUPZ (samba & ldap Linux PDC, Windows Clients) works
perfektly
with all ldap users, groups (linux and from windows) and computer accounts
(Win2000 WS).

install software when the user logs on (with admin previledges)
Hi All,
is it possible to install software when the user logs on ?
I think the problem is, that some software needs admin-rights to be
correctly installed?
The logon script is executeted with the username/right of the
logging-on user, so one can think of changing the user from within the netlogon-script...
but this would be dangerous, as one has to write the password
of an admin account in the

Re: Request for sample qmailGroup ldif: LDAP attribute is not given b ut mandatory. (#5.3.5) error
Hallo,
you have to add the qmailUser - objectClass and the corresponding
attributes to the entry, qmailGroup is an derieved objectClass from qmailUser.

Hallo,
i've got a little question:
is it possible to query the domain controller
which user is loggid in from which workstation.
I'm writing an webapp for teachers; it would be nice to know

correkt workstation in order to kick the pupil (force logoff)
or is there an other way to

Semantic relationships between shudown.stayoff, shutdown.return, and ups.start.auto
Nut-names.txt states that
1. ups.start.auto controls whether the UPS starts when mains is (re)applied.
2. shutdown.stayoff causes "turn off the load possibly after a delay and remain even if power returns".
3. shutdown.return causes "turn off the load possibly after a delay and return when power is back".
1 seems to conflict with 2 and 3. That is, 2

Net rpc shutdown
Hi all,
I'm trying to make a script that will shut down a couple of Windows
boxes from a Linux machine with Samba.
If I use "net rpc shutdown -I <windows-ip> -U administrator" it works
fine, except that I get prompted for the password. After looking
through "man net" I can't seem to find a way to include the password (I
tried "-U

WINS question
Hello
Have a trouble.
I have mashine with two interfaces.
Samba running at both with the same name of computer.
In wins-servers wins.dat i see next string:
"GRAND#20" 1044171787 192.168.1.1 192.168.2.1 46R
It's ok.
But for ALL mashines in any interfaces with any IP (192.168.1.X or 192.168.2.X)

Re: administrator privileges
I experienced the following problem with an apparent permissions Catch-22 where there's no "root" user to bootstrap from with Samba-LDAP, and found several other people experienced it too. I eventually figured out why a few people are plagued by this problem while most have never seen it, and I solved it. For everyone else who experiences a similar problem, the explanation and

I am starting to write a web services in RoR, and considering different

Thank you,

[LLVMdev] X86 rcp instruction generated
Hi,
We have implemented the rcp instruction generation for X86 target architecture. We have introduced a flag -fp-rcp flag which controls the generatation of X86 rcp instruction generation.
We have observed minor effects on precision and hence hve put these transformations under the mentioned flag.
Note that -fp-rcp is only enabled with -enable-unsafe-fp-math flag presently.
Moreover we have

resolving difference in interface between rsync and cp/rcp/scp
I've run into a situation where we'd like to replace rcp with rsync, but
we've run into a difference in interface, which is causing us problems.
Here's the problem. If we run this in rsync:
> mkdir tmpdir; cd tmpdir
> mkdir a; touch a/b
> rsync -r a b/
> ls b
a/
But for all the other programs, we get something different:
> cp -r a c/
> ls c

R interpreter in Java/R plugin or RCP for Eclipse
I've been enjoying R a lot and want to say thanks to all R developers for a
fantastic stat environment.
I also am a fan of the Eclipse computing environment, which I've been using
for Java/C(++)/Python. I was researching for an Eclipse plugin for R and
found StatET (http://www.walware.de/goto/statet). That's when I thought
about writing another Eclipse plugin with tighter integration
