[HELP!!!]: Fail to mount with NULL password in samba 3.0.6
Can anybody answer me?! Thanks in advance!!!
I have patch 3.0.6 with all patchs in http://samba.org/~jerry/patches/post-3.0.6/ ,
and set null passwords = yes in smb.conf. It works well to mount samba share in
linux box when user alpha have non-empty password.
But when set alpha's passwork as NULL, I get the follow messages:
# mount -t smbfs -o username=alpha,password=""

Missing charset ISO8859-1.so in 3.0.6?
I recently installed and built 3.0.06 on my Solaris 9 Ultra 5 station. When
I start either smbd or nmbd, the log files indicate a missing shared library
during initialization, but the daemons appear to be running anyway.
Specifically, the log says:
[2004/09/09 09:09:07, 3] lib/module.c:do_smb_load_module(46)
Error loading module '/usr/local/samba/lib/charset/ISO8859-1.so': ld.so.1:

Problems corrected in 3.0.6
1) A typo in the output of "help drop" has been corrected.
2) Previously, ''shorewall start'' would fail in the presence of a network
interface named ''inet''.

solved: My 'net ads keytab' can't write to keytab in samba 3.0.6
Hello.
I recompiled from the samba.org 3.0.7 SRPMs and it worked like a charm. I think the problem may have been that I was using RHEL3's 3.0.6 samba RPMs which depended on their own krb5-libs, and I used kerberos rpms that don't use e2fsprogs's libcom_err.
Anyone privilaged enough to be using RHEL3 to integrate their linux machines into ADS may want to rebuild anything depending on

differences between 3.0.6 and 3.1
The 3.1 manual says in the description of --human-readable:
Backward compatibility note: versions of rsync prior to 3.1.0
do not support human-readable level 1, and they default to level
0. Thus, specifying one or two -h options behaves the same in
old and new versions as long as you didn?t specify a --no-h
option prior to one or more -h options.

Change from 3.0.6 => Rails 3.0.7 "no such file to load -- action_mailer/railtie"
In my application.rb, I have this:
#require "rails/all"
require "action_controller/railtie"
require "action_mailer/railtie"
require "active_resource/railtie"
require "active_model/railtie"
(I didn''t want ActiveRecord) This worked fine up to 3.0.6, but now fails
with:

PDC/Samba 3.0.6/tdbsam
I recently converted my Samba PDC from ldapsam to tdbsam as I was
having too many problems with the ldap backend failing after a power
outages. I now have a few questions regarding tdbsam:
1. Is there any GUI user administration tool that I can use in
conjunction with a tdbsam backend? Usrmgr seems to function as user
root on the domain, but does not seem very reliable. I'm looking for

Lots of "file exists" errors with rsync version 3.0.6
Hi, we have started getting "file exists" ~100s errors every day. I think we
never got it with rsync 2.6.9. Is there anything changed in new version that
has been generating these errors?

read errors mapping "/path/file": No data available (in version 3.0.6)
Got this in the log:
WARNING: path/file failed verification -- update discarded (will try again).
rsync: read errors mapping "/path/file": No data available (61)
The first line is rare but understandable. It's the second one that I
find strange. What does "no data available" mean? The file exists on
the origin (and on the destination). The second attempt should have

WindowsXP SP2 shuts down while trying to log into samba 3.0.6 domain
Hello,
I have few Windows2000 Pro samba domain members which logon to the domain
without any obstacles. Recently I decided to upgrade all client workstations
to WindowsXP SP2. Fresh copy of WindowsXP joined domain properly but when I
tried to logon as usual it accepted password and shut down after a while
(logs of samba confirm that workstation logged on). Windows claims that
winlogon caused

Backup Exec 10.0 & Samba samba-3.0.6-2.3E
Hello all,
I have a quick question. the backup software, EXEC 10, does not change the
archive bits on Samba share. so when we ran our Full back up it was fine and
it was suppose to change the archive bits then when we ran our *incremental
back it ran a full back because the archive bits didn't change.*
Have anybody run into the same issues. Any suggestions will be greatly
appreciated.

Upgrading Kerberos 5 to version 1.3.x for smb 3.0.6
Hi all,
Situation : New server RH9, Samba 3.0.6, Kerberos5 1.2.7 in active directory domain was working in 2000 but now (win2k3).
Problem is I need to either update kerberos to 1.3.x to get this working or install Fedora 2.
Unfortunately I have a controller card which isn't currently supported in fedora.
Other option is updating Kerberos in RH9 and all the problems this brings.

Issues solved with samba-3.0.6.RC2
We've had the following problem with samba-3.0.4 - samba.3.0.5:
Very strange behavior on mapped shares when the user is a member of
"Domain Admins", Unix group "domadm".
samba-3.0.0 - samba-3.0.5:
Setting "hide unreadable" on a share hides everything when "security=DOMAIN".
These problems disappeared from our test environment after upgrading to
