Subsetting year range
Hi, I have a panel data set that I am trying to subset. I am trying to keep values for years >=1960. The full set is from 1940 to 2000. I tried a few things, but none worked. Here are a couple that I am trying to use. TableAPS1 <- subset(TableAP, year => 1959) TableAPS1 <- TableAP[ which(year > 1959),] It would be really nice if someone can point out what I am doing wrong

fixed effects regression
Hi everyone, I am running this fixed effects model in R. The thing is, my own code and the canned routine keep returning different estimates for the fixed effects factors and intercept. (The other variables' estimates and R^2 are the same!!! weird!!) I attach my own code, just in case. I am pretty sure this would not have any fundamental error. Well, hopefully. I have been using this code

Please Help with Secondary Groups
System: I am running RedHat 8.0 (2.4.18-14smp) with SAMBA 2.7 and user authentication against OpenLDAP 2.1.22. Problem: On RedHat, Put over (I think 70 or so) users within a secondary group. Got to Konqueror or Nautilus and try to change a directory's permissions to that group with over 70 or so users in it, (it may be 80 or 90 users), YOU CAN NOT assign that group to have ownership of that

Converting from RHEL to CentOS questions.
I have servers that are running: Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3 (Taroon Update 5) and Red Hat Linux Advanced Server release 2.1AS (Pensacola) [which I think RH renamed as Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 2.1]. The servers are running fine. Is it possible (and if so, how) to convert these to the equivalent releases of CentOS, without doing a complete upgrade (I want to mess with the

Clustering and winbindd
Hi all! I'm working on a project that, funnily enough, involves clustering and "winbindd". Specifically, we have a 2-node cluster configured in an active-active configuration whereby both servers are running Samba, each "exporting" different filesystems that are backed on a shared storage subsystem such that at any given time, one node can takeover from the other. R-1.7.1 gets installed without default packages & without readline
Hi all, Trying to install R-1.7.1 on a RedHat 8.0 platform, I have a few problems. R gets installed without default packages (but base and ctest) : make script fails at the end of the procedure (configure is made successfully). This is the (translated) log I have : /gcc -I../../../../include /usr/include/mysql -D__NO_MATH_INLINES -mieee-fp -fPIC -g -O2 -c ansari.c -o ansari.o gcc: cannot

LDAP & Samba
Hello, I am seriously considering switching over my authentication system from the standard passwd/smbpasswd, to a LDAP-based system, that can authenticate *BOTH* UNIX and Windows systems and users. Here's a couple questions that I have, and I would greatly appreciate some answers. ;-) Will the schema file used by Samba also support UNIX users attempting to authenticate? In other words, can

Call for testing: OpenSSH 6.7
Must have bolluxed something up in the compile environment - that or http://www.mindrot.org/openssh_snap/openssh-SNAP-20140828.tar.gz had a configure tweak that fixed it. All systems tested now build and pass all tests. That said - the stupid race condition in that one test is cropping up sporadically still - I think it's related to the load (or lack thereof) on the VM host. With, of

OpenSSH 3.8p1 RPMs
Hello all. I've posted some RPM builds of OpenSSH 3.8p1 for RedHat 7.2, 7.3, 9.0, 2.1AS and Fedora Core 1. These are available from http://bamboo.lexi.com/openssh . I've previously posted RedHat 7.1 but as I've upgraded the last 7.1 box, I no longer have a build platform for that release. People have found value in these builds in the past so I try to keep the page updated.

OpenSSH, Radius, PAM & NOUSER issue
Hi ! Sorry to bring back the infamous "NOUSER" in the conversation but I didn't get the workaround on that problem. Firstly, I'm using : - openssh-3.1p1-15 which is the version which comes by default with my Red Hat Linux Advanced Server release 2.1AS. - I'm using PAM, set up to use radius. Please find below the /etc/pam.d/sshd file : #%PAM-1.0 auth

Weird problem with my code....
Dear all, Somebody kindly pointed out a problem in my WaveThresh3 code. I can't figure out what is wrong. I have whittled down the code quite a bit into an example case which repeats the problem. There is one R function called "ScalingFunction" and one C function called "CScalFn.c". The idea is that the R function calls the C routine repeatedly to compute a wavelet

Our network is using a mix of Win2k server, Win2k Pro, Win98, Win95 and WinMe machines, where the Win2k server is the domain controller and terminal service applications server and the Samba is a member fileserver of the domain. All workstations logon and mount the samba file services. We'd like to check if the problem could be solved by
