Novell EDirectory as LDAP backend
Hi, is anybody out there who is using Novell Edir. with samba? I have searched the archive and found some random notes but no real success story. Here is what I have achived so far. Maybe someone can give me some hints. I have tried the samba-nds.schema that comes with the 2.2.7a tar ball. While I was able to import/add it to EDir. it did not work for me, because the "lmPassword"

upgrade eDir NW6.5 -> Samba 3 -> Samba 4
Hi all, I do have a question to Andrews statement... https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2013-January/171054.html > You might be able to instead upgrade your Novell domain into Samba 4.0's > AD DC, if it currently backs a Samba 3.x 'classic' domain (or can be > made to), [...] I'm a little confused. I am probably able to run a Samba3 acting as a PDC with my eDir users

Samba and LDAP (eDirectory)
Hello all, Can anyone help me with setting up SAMBA to do LDAP auth? Do you have to extend the schema with samba attributes or can you just use the LDAP as an authentication source only? Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Vince

Password trouble with LDAP (eDirectory)
Hi All, I have a strange problem with passwords, stored in LDAP. When i try to logon as a user with the correct password, access is denied and the log says check_ntlm_password: Authentication for user [administrator] -> [administrator] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER When i try to logon a user with incorrect password, access is (of course) denied, but the log now says

From the turtorials that i have read a lot pf people hook up edirectory

Checklist for eDirectory back-end?
Aren't Friday's wonderful! I've just been hit up with a request from management to install Samba on our Solaris 8 UNIX servers to share out information to the windows PC's. This wouldn't be an issue if the backend was Windows AD but in our case it's eDirectory. The shares also need to be seamlessly accessible to eDirectory based groups/users without interfering with the

Samba with eDirectory
Hello, Can Samba join an eDirectory or a domain controlled by a NDS ? Acyualy, my need is to do SSO for IE with Squid, using the NTLM protocol. edirectory and samba
Essentially, at this point my head is about to explode. I have been able to update the most recent samba-nds.schema from the LDAP CVS at samba.org. And I can add posixAccount users with the LDAPTools. But I cannot add anyone as a sambaAccount (./smbldap-useradd -a "username"). Each time, it adds the posixAccount portion to eDirectory, and then failes the sambaAccount add portion. Is

Samba Authentication Using Novell eDirectory via LDAP
Hello, We have a RHEL 4 Update 4 server that was configured to store its Samba passwords in eDirectory via LDAP. This was accomplished by adding the following three lines to the [Global] section of smb.conf: ldap admin dn = cn=admin,o=budget ldap suffix = o=budget passdb backend = ldapsam:ldaps://SERVER_NAME:636 After adding the lines and saving the file the admin password is stored using

Is it in the grand howto? :-) Troy >>> "Joe Stuart" <jstuart@edenpr.k12.mn.us> 10/15/03 08:27AM >>> I was wondering if anyone has gotten samba to authenticate to Edirectory? If so is there any good docs anywhere online on how to do it? I've done some searching, but can't seem to find a whole

LDAP against Novell eDirectory: 'Confidentiality required'
Hi list! I am trying to get dovecot to authenticate users against Novell eDirectory via LDAP. I have successfully gotten open-xchange to authenticate, and I have written a PHP module that authenticates, however I cannot seem to get Dovecot working. If I turn on TLS and restart dovecot, I get: dovecot: 2010-05-20 09:22:05 Error: auth(default): LDAP: ldap_start_tls_s() failed: Connect error

recommendation for a tricky AD/netware setup
We have a co-operative project where we have 2 separate organisations using 2 different server environments. One uses Active Directory and windows file servers, the other eDirectory and Netware servers. We want to do a file server that handle users from both domains. It is easy enough to use kerberos authentication for the Active Directory users and LDAP to an eDirectory server for the Netware

I'm having a problem adding a password to users. I get "NDS error: no additional information available (-306) when I use smbpasswd. Hula-project and Samba
Hello, Has anyone run Hula Server (http://www.hula-project.org) and Samba on the same server and got the user authentication to sync? I imagine this would involve configuring Samba to use eDirectory (Novell) which Hula is using for store. I have searched everywhere for documentation referencing Hula and Samba integration/authentication but only found one article announcing that Novell has

Samba 3beta2/3 with ldapsam as PDC dont advice itself
Hi, i have a problem with samba3 (with ldapsam). I've set up my samba3 beta2 (also tried beta3) as a pdc, but it seems that samba does not anounce it's DOMAIN correctly. I don't see my JOCHENGROUP Domain from any Windows-Workstation. I can search for the name of my PDC using the 'Search Computer' Function and Windows will find it. I can doubleclick the PDC and login using

MYSQL asterisk configuration
Hello all. I am a little (allot) lost on my next hurdle in getting an asterisk system built. I would like to get my asterisk servers configured exclusively from database. I have read through the wiki on this subject but once again I find that there is a certain level of knowledge that is assumed. As of now I know nothing about databases in general and specifically MYSQL. I do not know
