[Fwd: Winbind under 3.0
I posted this plea for help last week, but received no responses, so I figured I'd re-send. Since posting this message I upgraded to 3.0 stable using the package posted on the samba.org site, and the behavior remains the same. I should also mention, if I try smbclient -U guest and enter an empty password, I can successfully get a browse list fromt the server. Is there an increased

Suddenly wine has a problem
Wine has been working perfectly over the last few months, and suddenly today I seem to be having this problem when I have not modified anything since the last time I sued wine. I should also point out, I have made no configuration changes to wine to cause this issue. Does anyone have any advice on how I can fix the problem. ssh authentication with AD
This seems to be common thread on the list, but I'm pulling my hair out and have to ask.. I've been following a couple of guides and using AD to authenticate users on my linux system. These include the ubuntu guide -- https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ActiveDirectoryWinbindHowto - https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_Samba_as_an_AD_Domain_Member -

Samba shares not refreshing in Windows after upgrade
I'm working with Samba on Ubuntu. We recently upgrade to Ubuntu 14.04 and with it Samba 3.6.3 to 4.1.6 (Version: 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.3). Since the upgrade, the mapped network drives on Windows do not refresh the shared files. It maps to the location without any problems and you can look at the content of the share. If you exit the window and then create a new file or even touch an

pam_smbpass causing corruption with su
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1257186 This bug has a long history since 4.1.6 and I can confirm with 4.2.1 I've isolated to the line: auth optional pam_smbpass.so migrate Configured in /etc/pam.d/common-auth That line is added by libpam-smbpass package installation and also by using pam-auth-update to enable SMB Password Synchronization For 4.2.1

Bug on PAM_Winbind ?
Hello guys, I am using PAM (0.82) to authenticate (samba) workgroup users and it works fine (pam_smbpass). But after joining a domain and start using pam_winbind too, pwauth (2.3.10) get a segmentation fault when trying to authenticate any workgroup or domain user. What happens is that it does authenticate the user successfully, but when it calls pam_end() to release its resources, it crashes.

Using CentOS 5 as server; best way to setup NFSv4?
I've got a server running CentOS 5.2 and has a working NFSv4 server. I've been looking for some help on this on the net, but haven't come across anything that looks like it would pertain to my situation. Basically, I've got a mixed distro environment (CentOS, Fedora, openSuSE, Ubuntu, Puppy, and yikes possibly a Windows box) on various desktops and laptops that I want to connect

This is broken (and insecure) behaviour.
We are seeing erratic behaviour from Samba for connecting Unix drives to an NT terminal Server. The NT server is not part of a domain and uses the WinCenter Logon Utility to authenticate username and passwords from my Unix NIS server. Samba is set up for server level

Migration from 3.5.6-27 to 3.6.16-31
Hello, I have a debian etch with (samba 3.5.6-27,) shares and windows 7 in the domain. This works ok. Since i installed the new version 3.6.16-31 I can not login with domain users in my windows client and the shares are inaccessible. I solved the problem with the login, removing the following line in my smb.conf: *ldapsam:trusted = yes* but why this line works with the version 3.5.6-27 and not

libpam-smbpass
Hai, Its not anymore in debian package, its in samba now as far i can tell, i think, 4.2 was the latest that had this. But `man smb.conf` and search for `unix password sync` That should give more info. Ps. Upgradeing debian 8 to 9 and samba, read : http://downloads.van-belle.nl/samba4/Upgrade-info.txt Almost every part where it might go wrong, when upgrading from 4.2 is in this file.

The answer is on the Slackware CD Rom - read /contrib/gcc2721.README. Apparently it's a bug wih this version of gcc, and the previous version is on the CD as a work-around.
