LDAP with Netscape 4 & Solaris 8
Hey all, I'm trying to get Samba 3.0.4 to work with Netscape Directory Server 4.x with LDAP. The problem is that I'm not getting authenticated thru LDAP. I've tried searching the archives(MARC), google and can find some info but nothing seems to fix it. I've loaded the Netscape V4 schema from the examples/LDAP. Included at the end is both my smb.conf file and my LDIF

add machine script problem
I am having trouble getting samba to execute the add machine script properly. It seems to be executing this script as a non-root user. I am running trustix with the 2.4.30 kernel. Samba is version 3.0.14a. Here is the output from testparm: Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf Processing section "[homes]" Processing section "[netlogon]" Processing section

User/Machine RID generation error?
Hello: I'm using: - samba-common-3.0.9-1 - kernel 2.6.5-1.358 - FC 2 - openldap-servers-2.1.29-1 We're running an NT4 domain using an LDAP backend, and everything was running fine until recently. The first thing that I noticed that new users were suddenly being assigned SambaSID's that were previously being assigned to machines. Previously: Typical User Entry: uid: john

[3.0, LDAP] smbpasswd fails in adding new accounts
Hello, I recently switched an environment from Samba 2.x to 3.0 without any major problems. LDAP database was converted and everything worked fine, _including_ chaning passwords with smbpasswd. However, I now had to create a new account, which failed. I created an LDAP entry first, because I use LDAP for Unix-Authentification as well. Afterwards, I wanted to add the Samba-specific attributes

strange DOS-Error 58
Hi, based on Bart Lagerweij's ( www.nu2.nu ) bootdisk, I've created a small DOS system that users can start by booting from network ( PXE ). The system is configured to map a network drive from a Suse 9.0 Pro / Samba server with various tools on it. The connection is anonymous. Until recently everything worked fine but suddenly there are strange errors: When I try to launch an EXE from

Authentication problem when using LDAP
A colleague has seen a problem (with Samba 3.0), in using LDAP. A very simple version of the problem is as follows, where he tries to authenticate a user "grw" > > I am almost there... I get the following when I do a simple test to > > find the user 'grw' by attempting to change the password (even > > though I do not want Samba to change the pw, this

ldap smbpasswd UH???
I can't really guess the point of your intelligent answer from this. If I have to assume you're surprised, I guess I am too. The cn exists in ldap, with all the attributes that I imported from other databases, the message given by smbpasswd suggests that it either tried to create an entry or update it with sambaaccount attributes ( which it didn't ), neither of which are the expected

ldapsam ignores "ldap user suffix" when doing username lookup
Greetings. Since this is my first post to this list, hello everyone. Here's an issue concerning the ldapsam backend. I'm having a problem with the "ldap user suffix" param not being honored as expected. Specifically, when a user logs on, the "ldap user suffix" is ignored and the ldapsam backend attempts to lookup the user doing a full subtree search in the context

Bug in LDAP stuff?
I think I've found a bug in the LDAP stuff. I've got a LDAP backend setup based on the idealx scripts. When I try to join a machine to my domain, I get the following. The important bit I want to point out is that the LDAP search is looking for (a lot of) properties, but it seems to be looking for _ALL_ objectClass=sambaSamAccount's. At this point in the trace, it should be trying to

LDAP: strange "net groupmap" behaviour
Dear Sirs, I did the following command (against ldapsam backend): net groupmap add rid=3002 unixgroup=wheel type=local ntgroup=Marketoids comment=Mm -d 10 I just wanted to add new group. But instead of that I saw many-many-many records: lib/smbldap.c:smbldap_search(963) passdb/pdb_ldap.c:ldapsam_getgroup(2008) they all wanted to find group with gidNumber=4294967295, yes, sure, there's

ldap guest account mapping looks broken
I'm running the samba-client-3.0.20-0.1 SUSE RPM. I was using the version that came with 9.3 but upgraded to see if this specific problem would go away. Guest access does not appear to be working correctly, and it looks like the problem is due to guest not getting mapped into the LDAP query correctly. Specifically, I can login with local account, join workstation to the domain, browse
