smbldap-tools problem with Samba 3.0.1/LDAP 2.1.22/Fedora Core 1
I'm trying to setup a samba PDC/BDC with disconnected auth. and am stuck at
step one because I can't get smbldap-tools to work right. First when I do a
smbldap-useradd.pl -a test, it works fine. ldapsearch shows the entry
properly. Then I try smbldap-usershow.pl or smbldap-userdel.pl or any other
one for that matter and they all fail with a "user test does not exist"!

LDAP backend not mapping permissions properly and other problems
Sorry this is so long, but I think it is all relevant. I also have an output
from pdbedit with log level 10 if needed.
First, the latest problem I have noticed. When I create a new directory on
the server, samba creates the files properly and gives them the proper
permissions on the server, but when I look at the file security properties
(Right click,Properties, Security Tab) I don't get the

Windows XP local services not starting automatically after joining samba domain
Hi,
I am trying to setup a Samba PDC with Windows XP Pro Clients. I currently
run a Samba 2.2 PDC and am trying to change over to a Samba 3.0.5 PDC with
an LDAP backend. I can join the domain fine, but from there things are
getting rough. The Samba server is running on a Fedora Core 2 box with all
the current updates and all my clients are XP Pro. As soon as I logon (with
any account), I get

Hi everyone,
I have had a problem for a while now, and haven't been able to figure it out
on my own, so I'm asking for help. When a user tries to change their
password they receive the aforementioned error. I am running Samba 3.0.10 on
CentOS 4.4 (Red Hat Enterprise) with an LDAP backend. I have the
smbldap-tools scripts installed and have them setup in my smb.conf (see

Hello,
I am trying to rename a computer on my samba domain but it fails telling me I hadn't rights to do it.
Obviously, I use the same admin account (root) than the one which add this computer on the domain some seconds before.
I am using samba 3.0.24 on Debian etch with a openldap SAM backend and smbldap-tools scripts using these conf params :

User Manager for Domains -- Groups not showing
I have a network of about 100+ users with a Samba 3.0.25 server with
an LDAP backend that I configured myself (with some help). Recently I
have had to add about 300 more users to my system and now I need to
get a slightly less technical person to help me manage the accounts.
I've been happily using smbldap-tools all of this time, but when I
showed what I do to my hapless trainee, her eyes

join domain - ou=people searched for machine accounts?
When I try to join a domain from a win2k client to a samba 3.0.5
PDC, I get the message "User not found". I use ldapsam, which
works fine in all other respects.
The strange thing is that the smbldap-useradd scripts terminates
with 0, the machine account is created under "ou=systems" in the
ldap database - all looks fine. Then a ldap search is triggered
with a base

mkdir Fail when creating multiple directories
Hi, I use the program Unison to synchronize two servers and have been having
a problem recently with errors saying mkdir failed.
The program tries to make backup copies of any file it is going to overwrite
before it actually does the sync. The backups have been failing because of
the mkdir failure. To try and find the problem, I logged in as root and then
tried the same command that unison was

NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE with ldap backend
Hi all,
I've configured my samba server to work with my ldap backend, the
configuration of ldap is correct and in fact my users can interactively
login. The problem is with samba, that is always returning a
NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE when a user tries to access a share. I'm in doubt if
I have to add ldap accounts through the ldap-tools of samba or not, at the
moment I did not add any

thanks Mike, have you tried the workaround I suggest i.e. remove
krb5_ccache_type=FILE from the winbind row of the file
/etc/pam.d/common-auth?

LDAP backend and sambaGroupType for builtin groups
Hi,
I have a question about sambaGroupType attribute on a Samba 3.2 PDC
with LDAP backend (and nss_ldap + nss_winbind).
What should be the value for Administrators builtin group ?
If i use smbldap-populate from smbldap-tools, the value of
sambaGroupType is 5 (and the LDAP entry for this group is a posixGroup
and a sambaGroupMapping).
I've also noticed that "wbinfo -g" doesn't
