RedHat 7.2 quota problem
Hi everyone,
I need to setup quota on ext3 filesystem. I created /aquota.* files with 600 chmod, added grpquota and usrquota to /etc/fstab, remouted partition,
[root@zeby root]# mount
/dev/hda1 on / type ext3 (rw,usrquota,grpquota)
...
but when I try
[root@zeby root]# quotaon /

EXT3 and Quotas
I seem to be experiencing difficulties with using quotas with EXT3.
quota.user, quota.group, aquota.user, and aquota.group are present.
The mount point for the device is /mass/ican2 and the device is /dev/sda1
Here is what I get when I run quotaon -a
[root@ican2 ican2]# quotaon -a
quotaon: using /mass/ican2/quota.user on /dev/sda1: Invalid argument
The quota.user files have just been touched,

quota doesn't appear to work - repquota only updates when quotacheck is run
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem that you experienced in Nov, 2013.
I am using ext4 with journaled quota and the quota usage is only updating when I run quotacheck manually.
Have you found a solution?
Regards,
Alex

Adding OST to online Lustre with quota
Hello,
we wounder whether is it possible to add OSTs to the Lustre with
quota support without making it offline?
We tried to do this but all quota information was lost. Despite the fact
that OST was formatted with quota support
we are receiving this error message:
Lustre: 3743:0:(lproc_quota.c:447:lprocfs_quota_wr_type())

Cannot set user quotas
Hello, I am having some trouble getting quota's to work. When I try to
set the quota for a user, it does not show up when I run repquota. I
am doing this on a Redhat (RHEL5) machine (I assume it is the same on
Centos). I think I am missing a step, but this is what I am doing:
(1) I add usrquota to the /etc/fstab file, then reboot
LABEL=/home /home ext3 defaults,usrquota 1 2

Hi list,
having used ext2/3 for years now I have to admit that I've never dealt
with filesystem quotas yet. But now I want to use them and I'm rather

do quotas work with ext3?
Hi,
I had ext2 and 2.4.7 kernel , quotas were working ok.
Now when all my filesystems are ext3 I figured out that quotas are not
working.... if I do quotaon , repquota, quotacheck the programs return 0
without any output.....
Does ext3 supports quotas?

couldn't load ext3
Hi
I am running a PC under Linux SuSE 7.2 with kernel 2.4.18, self compiled.
I changed some days ago the partition of my second HD from ext2 to ext3 with the help of tune2fs -j /dev/hdb2 and everything was running OK.
Today, I had a problem with a frozen display and I had to reboot the box cold. During the corresponding forced check I got the following messages:

Hi,
hoping that someone on this list can help me here is the Problem.
After a crash it seems the journal could not be recovered.
This is what mount gives:

ext3 - max filesystem size
Hi all,
I am working with a pc cluster, running redhat el 4, on opteron cpus. we
have several bigger RAID systems locally attached to the fileservers;
now I would like to create a big striped filesystem with around 15TB.
ext3 unfortunatelly only supports filesystem size up to 8TB, do you have
an idea if / when this border will be increased ? I already found some
discussions on LKML about it ?

Help needed to recover data from ext3 file system where mkfs was issued accidentally
Hi,
I connected my harddisk which had ext3 filesystem and some files
archived in it as slave device and issued "mkfs /dev/hdb2" accidentally.
Immediately I issued Ctrl C and stopped the process. But before that it
had deleted some 100 Blocks.
After that I am unable to boot that hard disk as primary device. The
system is asking me "please insert a valid boot device and press

LVM problem
Hi,
I have CentOS 5.0 which use an old hard disk. And recently I found
there are some bad sector on it ... I try to backup my data to other
CentOS 5.0 box ....
What I did is. I remove the old HD (with bad sector) and install it as
a slave IDE on a working CentOS 5.0 ... I try to mount the old HD as
/mnt/oldDisk but since it's a LVM, the "mount -t ext3" doesn't work.

Newbie problem: disk error launching FC3 in non-0 domain
Hi again
I have a minimal Fedora Core 3 image running fine as domain 0 (thanks
and sorry for the previous FAQ query) using both the standard install
ramdisk image, and the FC3 ramdisk image downloaded from xen sourceforge.
However, I can''t get it running in a non-zero domain.
In brief, I have a full FC3 installed on /dev/hda1, which I typically
use as my domain 0 OS. Then I have a

fsck_ufs locked in snaplk
Colleagues,
one of my servers had to be rebooted uncleanly and then I have backgrounded
fsck locked for more than an our in snaplk:
742 root 1 -4 4 1320K 688K snaplk 0:02 0.00% fsck_ufs
File system in question is 200G gmirror on SATA. Usually making a snapshot
(e.g., for making dumps) consumes 3-4 minutes for that fs, so it seems to me
that filesystem is in a deadlock.

Major problem with software raid
Ok, this is the case:
I've got two raid-5 arrays with software raid, both with three disks.
Setup:
md0 has hdb2, hdd1 and sda1
md1 has hdb5, hdd3 and sda3
Tonight, the system lost power due to a power spike. The result was a reboot
where it attempted to fix the raid, but it didn't exactly work. I have now
booted a live CD and using utilities there.
It seems the checksum value is
