WinXP and Mac OS X Server PDC: long logout times
Hello list,
I recently added a new workstation to my PDC and have been experiencing
some problems with roaming profiles. The PDC in question is Mac OS X
Server 10.3.4, which has Samba 3.0.2 on it. The machine has been
functioning without issue as a PDC and I have had no problems with my
Win2k clients.
While login times are quick, the XP SP1 machine takes a long, long time
to log out.

Date problem after import
Hi,
am running into an import problem:
After I upgraded an Mac OS X 10.5.8 Server to Mac OS X 10.6, not all, but quite some mails show wrong dates. They are dated to the year 2020, which is obviously not possible for mail that has been sent long ago.
Now 10.5 to 10.6 is a move from cyrus to dovecot and the migration scripts used by Apple are supposed to do a nice migration. I have seen this

Function to recognise convert dates between gregorian and other calendars (e.g. Persian)?
Dear list,
I will shortly have some data that contains numeric dates in the Persian /
Jalali calendar format, which I would like to convert to gregorian. At the
moment there doesn't seem to be a function for this in R, but it would be
great if someone could come up with same - I would attempt it but the
algorithm is very complex and this is also way beyond my fairly rudimentary
knowledge of

X session lockup (CentOS 4.7)
I just had a very odd incident with my session locking up, so I
thought I'd describe it to see if it rings any bells with anyone.
Background: I shut down my machine last night for Earth Hour, so the
last thing I did before logging out was exit Firefox3, telling it to
save my open tab state. When I turned the system back on and started
FF3 again, it installed new versions of three plugins (I

Samba, OS X Tiger 10.4 plain text password, username null-padded?
Our samba server is running Solaris 9 and Samba 3.0.2.a . For reasons
*outside the scope of this question* we are using plaintext passwords
and authenticating via our NFS server. (I know this isn't a great
idea, but that's not the question)
With Panther, plaintext passwords worked fine. Snooping, I see the
plain text password and username go through.
With Tiger, we first had to apply

Slow Samba share--why?
I trying to figure out why copying from a Samba drive to Windows XP is
slower than an FTP transfer beween the same two machines. To copy the 110
MB file from Samba takes 400 seconds, and to transfer the same file by FTP
takes 41 seconds.
From using ethereal, and comparing a fast smb copy to a slow smb copy, I
can see that the slow copy has a _lot_ more tcp traffic for a SMB single

intermittent failure of ability to connect to samba share from win (NT/2k) client
First, my installation is samba 2.2.8 running as a daemon (not inetd) on
Solaris 8 configured to use a WINS server and provide authentication via
a PDC (same host as WINS server). I do have an lmhosts file in the
samba /lib directory with the PDC/WINS server address in it.

I am not sure if your problem is similar to what we have just experienced.
we are using samba 2.2.3a-12.3 on debian with winxp sp1 clients
we are using roaming profiles
first logon after reboot fails sortof

ISCI Network Hang - Lun becomes unavailable
I am sharing out ZFS ISCSI luns to my Mac. When copying large files, the network will hang in the middle of the transfer and the LUN will become unavailable until I plumb the NIC. This issue appears to only occur only when I am reading files (ie..syncing an ipod) and not writing (I''m not 100% sure though). When I snoop the interface I notice a bunch of ARP lookups. Any ideas? Shorewall help blacklist and restart/refresh
At the current time I am not subscribed to the mailing list.
I have a blacklist that I got from www.peerguardian.net that is rather
large ( 81 kb).
When shorewall start command is issued it takes about 20 mins for it to
load.
Is this normal or should I do this another way?
Also I noticed something very strange with shorewall ..
I have cron do a shorewall restart command every 24 hours and

Activate ingress policies on suse enterprise server 9

My current loaded modules:

my kernel:
Linux linux 2.6.5-7.97-smp #1 SMP Fri Jul 2 14:21:59 UTC 2004 i686 i686 i386
GNU/Linux
So you can see the module sch_ingress is loaded and also the package iprout2
is installed.
I have set also a filter for ingress policies but i don`t think it is
working,

AW: Activate ingress policies on suse enterprise server 9
Hi,
Thanks for the fast response,
.)Okay I tried your suggestion for my port 8099 and nothing happened:
The tcp ip information goes from a firewall to my port 8099 and this port is
than routed to the original 8080, I do that because I don`t want to dirturb
my port 8080.
But it seams the ingress filter doesn`t work on it!!

Proxy Arp Ip Conflicts
I must have something configured wrong somewhere. I''ve enabled proxy-arp on my
shorewall 2.0.7 firewall. Works fine for what its supposed to do, I can see
all the machines through it great. However, whenever its enabled, the network
on the DMZ goes screwy. I''ve narrowed it down to this:
when proxy arp is enabled for that interface, like such:

Does SMTP Connection Drop When Posfix Reload is Issued ?
Dear Community Friends Greetings,
i work with ISP, we host email service for almost 500+ companies and 200+
mail servers relay through my smart host.
i implemented something that when our smart host would become blacklisted.
It will automatic switch to next available smart host (which is ready
sitting). that mean it will start relaying message through another smart
host automatically.
