Fw: printer admin option replacement on stand alone (not domain) print server running version 3.0.25
Thanks to those who responded to my original question. I ran this command and it accepted it after I provided the root password. # net rpc rights grant 'vlkidder' SePrintOperatorPrivilege Checked to see if 'vlkidder' had printer admin privilege and it seems ok. # net rpc rights list accounts Password: BUILTIN\Print Operators No privileges assigned SMBTEST\vlkidder

Printing Errors in log since installing 3.0.9
Since installing Samba 3.0.9, I am getting the following errors in my samba log file related to printing. I haven't made any changes to the smb.conf file from 3.0.7 where printing worked fine. This is a sample of the errors from the samba log file. [2004/12/06 15:45:55, 0] printing/printing_db.c:get_print_db_byname(109) get_print_db: Failed to open printer backend database

Fw: Setting Global printer defaults on standalone server running version samba 3.0.25
Hi Vickie (and others). I think I spoke a bit soon... at least on the global default settings... There are still a few strange things going on... My situation is slightly different from yours (I think). My users don't necessarily have logins on the linux server. I probably should use "security = share" - but with this setting - I couldn't get the driver upload to work. When

printer admin option replacement on stand alone (not domain) print server running version 3.0.25
I'm trying to upload print drivers to a stand-alone samba server running version 3.0.25. The server is part of a workgroup (not domain). My log files show messages that it cannot update the driver. Before I had the printer admin option set in my smb.conf file to allow a non-root user to do the printer admin and everything worked fine. I have read the Samba How To Notes section on important

problems with Windows XP clients becoming local master?
Hi there. First time posting to this but I'm getting desperate so apologies for any netiquette faux pas... I'm running a Suse box with Samba on it, with Windows XP SP2 clients viewing it in a workgroup. Some pc's are having timeouts when attempting to view a network share though. In the logs, sometimes at the same time as the timeouts, this appears: [2005/07/28 13:19:08, 0]

Samba not recognizing secondary groups
Hi all. I'm having a strange issue with a server running Samba 3.0.2a. The server has a single share, and under that are subfolders that contain documents. Each subfolder is owned by a different folder-specific group, and users belong to the groups that own the folders to which they need access. But suddenly one user can't access any folders. Windows (the client) suggests that she

Dial out from AGI
I'm writing an AGI script and want it to dial a number on a channel connected to the PSTN. It would look something like this (pseudo-code follows): if ($a){ dial("8005551212"); }else{ dial("8665550000"); } The part I can't seem to get right is the "dial" function. I tried to mimic the dial plan like so sub dial($number){ print

v2.0.6 problem with unique mktemp() file names for printer spooling files...
Hi, I'm wondering about the spooling capabilities of samba. I have a printable share and a custom printer command. I think normal behaviour for samba is to spool printed files with unique names, like USER1.FG2HTu in the spooling directory. My samba (version 2.0.6 on a Linux 2.2.10, Suse 6.2) does this correctly if the filename from windows has only uppercase letters. But in any other case, no

How to set up spooling for a HP JetDirect interface?
I've set up Samba and LPRng for HP printers with JetDirect cards. It works for one user at a time. But if the printer is off-line or busy, the samba client does not get an error message, but the job gets lost. :( I would like the print jobs to be spooled on Linux even when there is an active print job or when the printer is off-line. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with lpd. The

Printjob stuck spooling
Hi, I'm trying to remove a printjob that is currently blocking the printque for one of my users. I've tried to access the printer from the user and delete it there, but this doesn't help. Cups does not show the job at all. I therefore tried to access the printspool via sambas net printq command. With net, I can find the job, and the jobid, but when I try to use net rap printq

Extension never ring, goes straight to VM
I installed a new * server and copied the sip.conf and extensions.conf from my existing setup to the new box. I created my outbound trunk with a different broadvoice account and am able to dial out without issue. I am able to dial all extensions but I go straight to voicemail without any ringing, this happens to both local and outside numbers calling my extensions. I have the correct firewall

Weird active record problem - goes away with cache_classes change
I have three active record objects, User, Question and Answer - Questions belong to a user and has_many answers - Answer belongs to a user Now, when I start with an array of answers, I can do this successfully: for a in answers a.user.user_id end If I do this: for q in questions answers = q.answers for a in answers a.user.user_id end end It works the first time, but it fails the

TentSteak 0.2.0
The second release of TentSteak is out and available as a gem on rubyforge ("gem install tent_steak"). This version introduces a handful of new form helpers, a couple method renames, editable HTML tables, and some application bootstrappers for kickstarting Camping and initializing ActiveRecord. It''s still in active development, and I''d very much appreciate

Quick question: Omitting rows and cols with certain percents of missing values
Hi naive question. It is possible to get R command for omitting rows or cols with missing values present. But if i want to omit rows or cols with i.e . >20% missing values, I couldĀ“t find any package-based command, probably because it is too simple for anyone to do that manually, though not for me. Can anyone please help me ? - vickie [[alternative HTML version

dropterm in MANOVA for MLM objects
Dear R fans, I have got a difficult sounding problem. For fitting a linear model using continuous response and then for re-fitting the model after excluding every single variable, the following functions can be used. library(MASS) model = lm(perf ~ syct + mmin + mmax + cach + chmin + chmax, data = cpus) dropterm(model, test = "F") But I am not sure whether any similar functions is

smbd processes never go away
I am having a problem with Samba 3.0.20b runninn on Fedora core 4, with a 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4smp kernel. Each time I open a connection a new smbd process is forked. That is fine, but then that process never goes away, even after the client has disconnected. Even though there are only a few clients who make an smb connection to the server in question, dozens and dozens of smbd processes are

no hot spare activation?
While testing a zpool with a different storage adapter using my "blkdev" device, I did a test which made a disk unavailable -- all attempts to read from it report EIO. I expected my configuration (which is a 3 disk test, with 2 disks in a RAIDZ and a hot spare) to work where the hot spare would automatically be activated. But I''m finding that ZFS does not behave this way
