Re: 2.2.7 compile error using --with-acl-support
If you are using the debian/rules from apt-get or the source tarball, you need to not only include --with-acl-support in debian/rules, you also need to vi debian/config.cache --> replace "ac_cv_header_sys_acl_h=${ac_cv_header_sys_acl_h=no}" with "ac_cv_header_sys_acl_h=${ac_cv_header_sys_acl_h=yes}" This will allow it to compile. Unfortunately, for me,

migrating to a new server with LDAP
Hello folks. I need to migrate from an old server still running Debian Woody to a new server running Dapper Drake. The big challenge is turning out to be who to plan out the Samba LDAP migration. The current server version is 3.0.20 compiled form source and the Dapper package is 3.0.22 and appears to include ldap support. So I don't think I need to compile or worry about version

samba cannot find cups printcap
Hi, I just upgraded from cups-1.3.8/samba-3.4.1 to cups-1.4.1/samba-3.4.3 After upgrading, the samba log showed that it could not find the printcap file - previously cups was not generating a printcap file, but things worked fine. I changed cupsd.conf to produce a printcap file, but the samba log shows it cannot find it, even though I placed it in /etc, /etc/cups, /usr/local/etc,

Clarifying CUPS Printing
We have been using CUPS to handle printing and have run into some "features" some of which a fresh install of the responsible server will probably fix. However there are some disparities between the documentation and our practical experience for which a clear statement would help others. The docs state when using CUPS the relevent lines of SMB.CONF should look like this: printing=cups

Cups problems while compiling WINE
Just tried to compile WINE on opensuse 11 64bit. I did everything as described here: WineOn64bit - The Official Wine Wiki (http://wiki.winehq.org/WineOn64bit#head-b3c0054e075385ab599d63a46dba9d6c3934d6c0) But running the configure script I'm getting that message: Code: configure: libcups development files not found, CUPS won't be supported. Can't print with CUPS using samba's printer share
Greetings, My help request is about samba that can't print using CUPS from windows. I tryed to search for help on mailing-lists archives all around, and with the great Samba-HOWTO-Collection.pdf but didn't found a clue about my problem. I can print the CUPS test page, but can't print anything from windows using samba's share. I use samba-3.0.2a I compiled myself. It has been
