Permissions problem...I must be overlooking *something*...
I have a share I can't seem to create files on, and I can't figure out why.
I get "Access denied" from Windows, and the samba log shows this:

open_directory: failing create on read-only share

"chdir failed" - could someone please explain what this error mea ns?
For some time now I've had this type of error showing up in my logs:
[2004/09/16 11:52:08, 0] smbd/service.c:set_current_service(56)
chdir (/export/downloads) failed
I've Googled, I've looked at the source, and I still can't understand why
this error appears. What's really odd is that everything seems to work
fine, in spite of the error. Could someone please explain what

Adobe Photoshop uses wrong permissions when saving, default ACLs and create mask being ignored.
One of our employees is having an odd problem with Adobe Photoshop. Files
he saves with Photoshop are saved with permissions 777, completely ignoring
both the create mask and the default ACL for the directory. Files he
creates with other programs have the correct permissions. This has me
stumped. It appears I can reproduce the problem at will.
Client is Windows NT 4.0 SP6a and Adobe Photoshop

Setting MWI on legacy PBX
Before I go and try to write something myself, I'm curious if anyone has a
script that they're using for setting and clearing the MWI on a legacy PBX.
I need to pick up a Zap channel and dial #63XXX to set the MWI, or #64XXX to
clear it, where XXX is the extension number. One complication is that I've
got a couple dozen extensions to handle the MWI for, and only four channels
to work

Menu tree for voicemailmain application
Is there a menu tree diagram somewhere for the Voicemailmain application? I
know my users will ask for one, and before I started drawing my own I
thought I'd see if someone already had.

Connecting Asterisk to a Toshiba Strata system
I'm interested in setting up Asterisk as a voice mail system for our Toshiba
Strata CTX100 PBX. Our current voice mail system connects to the PBX with
four analog extensions. Does anyone have information on how to integrate
this kind of system with Asterisk? I've looked at the legacy integration
section of the Wiki, but it doesn't seem to have anything about Toshiba
systems.

Roaming Profiles with Windows ACLs
I've set up a profiles share according to the wiki article:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Implementing_roaming_profiles
Users are able to create new roaming profiles and they cannot browse each
others' profiles, so all that is working. The only issue is that the group
"domain admins" does not have privileges to read or delete user profiles.
The acls on the profiles directory

Shares requiring "Everyone" access...
I believe I have found either a bug or something I do not understand. I
recently had a file-share issue and the resolution was to set the
"others" permissions to 5, read and execute. The problem with this is
that once I am in Windows on a workstation, this appears to allow
"Everyone", "CREATOR OWNER", and "CREATOR GROUP" access. We normally
setup our

Unable to use BUILTIN AD groups on a domain member
I have set up a share on a domain member server and am attempting to set the ACLs from a domain-joined Windows 7 computer as per the

I want to use one of the BUILTIN groups, Backup Operators to be able to have Full Control on files in the share (as it will be used
for backups). However, when trying to assign the

Greetings!
I'm running domain member fileservers on Samba 4.3.6.. During my backup
