unable to join to a Samba4 domain
I'm trying to join a Windows 2008 to a Samba4 domain. I'm able to ping Samba4 or browse its network shares. Unfortunately, I can't join Windows 2008 to this Samba4 domain - I'm not even asked for Administrator password. Windows 2008 errors with the below message, which roughly translates to: DSN-query for domain "samba4.my.domain" was successful. The query was for

weine & baan erp windows client
hi, i've setup wine with winetools and installed the baan cleint for windows. at a first sight every thing seems to work. a closer look showed a font problem. when you look at the atatched jpg's you can see, that the numbers do not fit the entry field. compare linux.jpg and windows.jpg. i'm not shure if this is a font problem or some thing else. sadly this is a killerapplication for

samba 3.0.2 - windows 98 - smbd 100% cpu usage
hi, i've a problem with a windos 98 client. there is one linux samba server an one single windows 98 client. as soon as the clinet logs on to samba a dmbd is forked which causes 100% cpu load. as the level 10 logs are quite large and the ml does not allow mails of that size i've put them on a webserver: http://www.mhcsoftware.de/smb/log.smbd http://www.mhcsoftware.de/smb/log.nmbd

Fresh ad installation - Win2022 can't join
Good morning, and a Happy New Year ? I'd like to setup a test-enviroment, based on Debian Bookworm and mjt's 4.19.3 packages. samba is running as a Hyper-V vm, its ip is 192.168.178.37, its name is dc.augusta.domain.tld My idea is to use this dc for two networks (192.168.178.0/24 and 192.168.180.0/24) and for testing one Windows 2022 server (192.168.178.34/24). I used these two

PDC & ACL's
hi, i want to use samba 3.0.5 as PDC for w98, w2k, XP with windows acl's. so, i've a few questions: - is there a comprehensive doc describing this (i know the std. samba docs) - do i need a filesystem supporting acl's (xfs) to get this ? if the server is used by win clients only. (no nfs) - if i need a special fs, which one is to be prefered ? TIA -- Matthias Henze

obtaining the values for the hazard function in a cox regression
Hello , I am hoping for some advice regarding obtaining the values for the hazard function in a cox regression that I have undertaken. I have a model in the following form, analysed with the package survival (v. 2.34-1) and a log-log plot obtained using Design (v. 2.1-2). For two variables, the lines in the survival curves crossed. quoting a table name due to a special character in sqlQuery (RODBC)
Dear List, I have a problem with RODBC on a Paradox-DB, sqlQuery, and special characters in table names. Unfortunately, some of the latter include the underscore <_>. And I am not able to change them. That's not a problem, when I quote the table name: > sqlQuery(channel2, 'SELECT * FROM "anmeldung-alt"') Btw, if I swap ' and " it does not work: >

DNS entry for resolving the DC
We already "solved" this by using the long form of the domain name, but I want to learn if we should do something additional: We had a mixed setup in the field, some PCs had a WINS server configured, some not. We removed the WINS info from DHCP and saw no new problems (we wanted to have things the same way on all clients). Yesterday the local admin tried to join a new PC and entered

ip authentication
I have Samba installed on a Debian Sarge distro in my home network. It's not connected to the internet and I'm the only user, so I'm not too concerned about security. My question is can I have Samba authenticate by ip address instead of username and password. Again security is not an issue but I kinda get annoyed having to login every time I need files from it. -- Cheers, Matt

GPO issues - getting SYSVOL cleaned up again
new thread, old issue been fiddling off-list with tips from Louis over the last days, and putting it back to the list to ask for help from others: 2 samba-4.9.11 DCs 1 samba-4.8.12 DM file server GPOs not working cleanly anymore tried to resync completely etc etc - right now I test gpupdate/gpresult on an older (not productive) W2008R2 server which I use for editing stuff via RSAT/MMC I
