NT can't print while Win 95 can?
Hello all, I have a printing problem with NT, Samba 1.9.18p8 and Debian Linux 1.3 (Kernel 2.0.32). I defined a printer share, which works fine with Win95, but it does not print with NT 4.0 SP3 and NT 3.51. After installing the "EnablePlainTextPassword" registry entry NT4.0 is able to browse, connect and use a file system share on the printserver, but it can not print to the same

Re: How do I force Samba to update shared printer list? (2.2.6-pre2)
Try : killall -s HUP /usr/sbin/smbd is causes that smbd rereads its config. PLEASE help with printing problem
I can't seem to find an answer or a workaround, and I've received stoney silence on this one. There aren't any answers in the archives (well, I didn't find any in the hours on several days I spent, anyhow). I'm convinced that I can't be the *only* one with this problem, nor am I convinced that there is absolutely no one who can help. Please feel free to jump in with

printing info needed
Hello experts, I really did'nt want to, but now I have to understand what's really going on when trying to print. I need to know why the hp 9x0C deskjet printqueue even don't want to open the properties window and sometimes the KXdrivers from Kyocera refuse to print. I can find questions in the lists but no answeres. As there is so much documentation and source code on the one hand

Re-2: Samba 3.0.9 doesn't remove printjobs ?
That was a good hint! Yes, I've installed SP2, and it realy seems to be the Problem. Now I've checked that on a machine with SP1 - and the jobs from the same printqueue are removed correctly there! -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [Samba] Samba 3.0.9 doesn't remove printjobs ? completed printjobs stay in queue after "upgrade" 3.0.20rc2 -> 3.0.20
A few weeks ago, I upgraded Samba 3.0.1x to 3.0.14a . After the upgrade, all completed printjobs on all 40 printers stayed in samba's print queue (they were removed from the unix-printqueue). When I installed 3.0.20rc2, everything back to normal. But since the upgrade this weekend to 3.0.20, the same thing happens again: no jobs were removed from the samba printerqueue's. Removing

Samba 3.0.9 doesn't remove printjobs ?
Hello! I'm using samba with CUPS printing (with raw passthru) for a long time now and it worked very well. But after upgrading my samba installation from 3.0.2 to 3.0.9, the printjobs (sent from XP Workstations) aren't removed from the joblist anymore. Means: the job is printed correctly, but opening the printqueue on the XP machine still contains the job (not only mine, but jobs from

3.5.1 64 bit windows printing is working a bit
Hi, although I don't expect any answers (like most of the times) , here is my experience so far: I run a samba printserver for +3.000 hosts and 600 printers with a correct setup successfully. So be sure, everything is plugged in, I tried to turn it off and on again, I RTFM'ed and so on. Here is my most successfull attempt to get the printservice going on 3.5.1 and windows 7 46 bit

Printing problem! CUPS, XP-pro
Hi, I'we tried posting this before without any luck! I share a printer and some shares on my samba 3.0.2a-debian server. No fancy domain-logon, just plain workgroup connect (smb.conf below). The problem is, sometimes when i choose to print from my XP-pro machine, the printer don't react... The shares work fine, and i read/write from them, but i can't print. Neither cups, samba or

Windows XP printer status, samba and cups
Hi all, I am trying to get decent printer status without timeouts in windows xp (no sp1 installed). When I installed the printer it gave access denied, unable to connect but it printed the test page fine. I rebooted, logged in as normal user and tried to access the printer configuration folder. It took a long while but in the end it gave an ok status on the particular printer, when opening the

cant see cups print queues via samba.
It is possible to see the print queue and via NT4's printer window. Correct? And remove the jobs too, right? But not for me. cups-1.0.5, samba-2.07 on linux-2.2.15 queues show ok using lpq printing from nt works ok using samba. in smb.conf I have: printing = cups print command = lpr -P%p -s %s; rm %s lpq command = /usr/local/bin/lpq -P %p lprm command = /usr/local/bin/lprm -P %p %j The

completed printjobs stay in queue
Jerry, I'm very sorry for this late answer. I should tweak my mailfilters (I didn't expect an answer anymore so I didn't check my samba-mailfolder) That's our situation: - I tried to revert to 3.0.20rc2 and got the error again - I installed 3.0.20 again and rebooted, and the problem went away! IMC
Hi, I'm trying to setup IMC (idealx management console) to give our windows admins some nice toy to play with, but I have problem to make it work. I can log in after I authentificate as Administrator, but, I can't modify any LDAP entries, as that fails with unsufficient privileges due to the IMC trying to bind to LDAP as logged in user (Administrator), instead of something like

Documenting variables, dataframes and files?
Every now and then I realize that my attempts to document what all dataframes consist of are unsufficient. So far, I have been writing notes in an external file. Are there any better ways to do this within R? One possibility could be to set up the data as packages, but I would like to have a solution on a lower level, closer to data. I can't find any pointers in the standard manuals.

Re-4: Samba 3.0.9 doesn't remove printjobs ?
I modified the CUPS access rights (defined in cupsd.conf). Before that only users of administrative group had access to the printer configuration parts. Now I removed all access restrictions, so that anyone can access all CUPS services (printers, jobs, ...) (we use this, because sometimes we need to hold printers manually ...). But, as I mentioned, I don't find the relationship between this

Online backup of domain fails
Oh sorry, I forgot that the offline option isn't in 4.9. It will be in 4.10 (release candidate should be available next week some time). However, you have to run the offline command locally on the DC, and you probably don't want to install a rc build on a production DC. So when I set the DC's smb.conf debug level to 3, I see smbd logs like the following when doing the sysvol portion
