Weird permissions issues with samba shares and XFS
Hi, We are trying to deploy samba sharing on Centos 7.4, linked to windows 2016 AD for authentication. We are having an issue related to permissions where different directories with seemingly the exact same permissions cannot all be accessed from smbclient. I was hoping somebody could help me figuring this out. We have the following structure: 1. one LVM2 volume on /dev/storage/test (XFS)

I'm running samba 4.1.6 as a PDC on ubuntu 14.04. I'm following these guides to setup print shares https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_as_a_print_server https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_and_configure_file_shares_with_Windows_ACLs When I go to my windows workstation to change the ACL's on the print$ share I can get into the security tab and I can change the security options

windows doesn't show groups in security tab of file properties
Hello, I've a Samba 3.0.23c-SerNet-Debian PDC (no BDC or anything) connected to OpenLDAP. I thought it would work smoothly, I didn't discover any problems until today. I'am trying to create a ntconfig.pol with poledit, but it doesn't show me any groups to add to the policy. I can see all the users by the way. To eleminate a poledit problem I used the security tab (in german

windows acl not saving, no error, nothing in log file
Regarding the insertion of "user_xattr,acl,barrier=1" in to /etc/fstab file. The Sambawiki page 'https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/OS_Requirements' has instructions there for ext4 to include this. I seen it commented here, in the mailing list, many time that this is now default for ext4. Maybe the wiki page should be changed? (Just a suggestion, you guys always give great

Quake II - a modal problem?
I am running FC2 on a Dell 600SC, latest wine version. FYI:Quake II will run on machines with only 4 MB video cards and no OpenGL. It runs fine under Windoze. Under Wine it runs the "launching demo" well but then I have no keyboard or mouse control. I must force the power off to regain control. On Windoze one would hit the escape key at this point and a menu screen appears with

adding machine accounts on-the-fly - 3.0.4 and LDAP
Hi, I want to achieve, that the IT staff could add machines (2000/XP) to samba-3 (LDAP backend) on the fly. Creating a new machine account to LDAP requires special access to samba (uid=0). In samba-2.2.x was a great parameter called "domain admin group". So everyone, who belonged to the specified group and root (uid=0) could modify LDAP. Others got message - "cannot access LDAP

embedded spaces in group names
Hello, Many of our NT domain groups have names that contain embedded spaces, like "Domain Admins". When I attempt to use winbind and assign rights via those groups the granting fails. Group names without embedded spaces, like "Domain_Admins" work fine. In smb.conf I've tested specifying the name as: "DOMAIN+Domain Admin" DOMAIN+Domain\ Admin and
