last ldap question ;-)
Ok guys,
i'm giving up. To clarify this whole thing for me please tell me:
if you have ldap and samba configured together do you still need to have
local accounts in /etc/passwd in order to use smbpasswd or pdbedit
utility? (_fact_: smbldap-useradd.pl using them anyway _fact_)
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Kiryl.

Connecting Suse9.2 to Samba shares in a windows network
Hi All,
Our office is running somes tests by introducing a couple of Linux
workstations into the mix to see how they fair. I am however having some
issues connecting these workstations to the shares offered by our Samba
3.02 server.
I know that this is not really a samba issue, but I thought I might be
able to get some help here to rectify my problems. I apologize if this
is too far off

shared network printer on linksys print server
I have a samba server running samba 3. I am not actually sure that this
is samba not working or a linux printing thing. I have a Linksys PPSX1
Pocket Print Server and I am unable to print to the network printer.
There are directions on the Linksys site but I get so far and the
directions tell me to type a command that is not found. Is anyone
printing to a Linksys Pocket Print Server? I need

Active Directory, Listing Users in Groups.
I have samba 3.0.8, as a member of 2000AD and 2003AD.
I would like to get groups and the members in each group.
The purpose is to maintain a set of Filtering profiles on squidGuard that
are based on AD groups. I will have a script that reads a config file with
the groupnames to fetch from Active Directory and a Precedence order to set
them in. One of the groups will be designated "a NO

\PIPE\NETLOGON (NT_STATUS_DOMAIN_CONTROLLER_NOT_FOUND)
Help,
wbinfo -t fails with the error in subject, and getting sids of groups that
aren't BUILTIN fail. Everything else seems to work. Note: I am not
converting my kerberos tickets to krb4, is this necessary? (It used to work
without it..but now it seems not to work.) I get no errors from kinit.
all other wbinfo requests succeed with the exception of looking up the SIDS of
groups that

Problem: wbinfo -t fails. As long as it fails, I am unable to map sids to

Slow read performance
Help please-
I am running 3.3.1 on Centos using a 10GB network. I get reasonable write speeds, although I think they could be faster. But my read speeds are REALLY slow.
Executive summary:
On gluster client-
Writes average about 700-800MB/s
Reads average about 70-80MB/s
On server-
Writes average about 1-1.5GB/s
Reads average about 2-3GB/s
Any thoughts?
Here are some additional details:

ntlm_auth (Samba build) stops responding.
when using the samba 3.0.x (Any 3.0.x build) ntlm_auth helper program for
authentication, it will authenticate for a week, and then stop responding.
Does this mean that it uses a persistant connection that's never respawned?
It seems to me, it would be nice if it occassionally would disconnect and
reconnect, as suddenly stopping responses causes production environments to
fail.
