Samba 2.2.5 and srv_spoolss_nt error
Hi!
I'm having problems with printing with Samba 2.2.5 and WinXP. I have samba
setup as a PDC and have 3 printers: HP LaserJet 5000N, HP LaserJet 8550DN
and HP DesignJet 1055CM. I used WinXP to upload the drivers for the
printers to XP clients and to 98 clients, and all went fine. I downloaded
the lastest PCL6 drivers for the Laserjet printers and the HPGL2/RTL
driver for the Designjet.

Strange unexplainable CUPS problem after upgrade to 5.10
I manage a bunch of workstations at the Wendell Free Library. They are all
diskless, boot via PXE and mount all of their file systems via NFS from a
server. All of the machines are 32-bit and run CentOS (fully up-to-date
running 5.10). There are two printers with queues managed on the server. The
server 'shares' these printers on the local LAN (eg with all of the
workstations).

Samba printing on Solaris 8
Hi:
I am new to the Samba world and I am having problems with printing. I
have Samba installed on a Solaris 8 server. I can see the Samba shares
and the printer (lasersys) in Windows Explorer. I have installed the
printer on my workstation (NT 4.0) using the Windows 'Add Printer'
wizard. However, when I send a print job to the printer
(Wordpad:File > Print) the job never gets to the

Printer prints, but reports opening
We have a samba 2.2.3a-12.3 for Debian running, and something odd in
printing.
We use CUPs as linux print server. When we print from a w2k station,
prints come out the printer, but the printer window reports a cycle of
messages:
- initializing printer
- opening printer
- failed to open, retrying
what can be the cause?

Samba / cups problem
Hi all,
I have set up a printer in cups and I can see it with lpstat -a, and I can
print to it. I put what I thought was the appropriate stuff in smb.conf, and
yet no printer shows up to the NT client I'm testing with, or in smbclient -L
output. Any ideas at all? Here is the relevant info:

excessive lpstat calls
I run a fairly busy samba server that only serves up users' home
directory. I am running Samba v3.0.20 under Solaris 10 on a Sun v440.
I'm seeing a large number of calls to '/usr/bin/lpstat -v'. These are
probably occuring everytime a new client connects, but I'm not positive.
The server does not have any printers attached to it, has no entries in
/etc/printers.conf, and

windows printer queue display fails
I am driving a Suse 8.2 linux with cups 1.1.18 and samba 2.2.7a.
The problem:
The host serves several printers via cups. If some jobs are in one of
the queues "lpq -Pprinter" or "lpstat -o printer" shows up the complete
listing. Fine.
Connected to the same print queue from a Windows (XP/NT/98/2k) box I
cannot see the complete listing. Sometimes I see some of the jobs, most

Domain Logons
Hello,
I am new to Samba. I run FreeBSD 2.2.5-stable and Version 1.9.17p4.
I would like my FreeBSD server to act as a DOMAIN Logon. And, for example
if user riso logges in (using his FreeBSD box password) his /home/riso
should be
automatically maped to G: or something.
The error message I get is:
"You have entered an incorrect password, or access to your logon server has
been denied."

Which versions of CUPS and Samba are you using?
And are you *really* still using the "cupsomatic"-PPD
from Linuxprinting.org for that *PostScript*-printer??

winki article contribution
Dave Fernandes
I propose a much needed article on using cups from the command line.?
This article, fully written and used by myself will automate the
process of adding printers to any desktop or server just by running a
script file.? It will teach you lpadmin, lpstat, how to setup and
install drivers for printers and how to automate the process.
I find
this useful on client sites (who love linux
