not able to log on (PDC with ldap backend)
Hello,
I set up my first PDC with LDAP as backend. I'm able to join a vista
client to the domain. However, when want to log onto after rebooting the
client, it claims that the logon server is n/a. My smb and slapd.confs are
attached.
Any ideas what i did wrong or missed to configure?
Thx,
Ingo

LDAP backend for a stand-alone server
I'm sure I'm missing something in the configuration or am misconfiguring
the ldif. Regular linux accounts authenticate fine looking at the ldap
but not samba accounts. When I try to map a drive, it just returns
"Incorrect password or unkown username". I have ldap running on a
seperate server from the samba server.
I get nothing in the messages logs on the samba server,

ldap backend failing
Hi,
I have an ldap provider and consumer that appear to work correctly,
EG, new users are sync'ed and a search on either server (ldapsearch -x
-b 'dc=example,dc=com' '(cn=djohn)') returns an oject. However when an
XP user attempt to connect to the consumer server the authentication
fails:

samba4 and (pseudo) LDAP backend for users, groups and rights
Dear List,
I am used to Samba 3 and LDAP. But since Samba 4 I'm struggeling hard to understand what has to be done and how a possible solution might look like for our scenario. I already found out that Samba 4 comes with its own LDAP Server and if I want to use a slapd on the same system, it should listen on another port. I know that using a LDAP backend isn't supported in the current

samba pdc with ldap backend setup problems
Greetings...
I'm struggling trying to set up a samba 3.0.23c PDC with ldap
backend. The server is Fedora 5, OpenLdap version 2.3.19-4.
I've got it so smbd and nmbd start properly and I can use a windows
box and see the domain using srvmgr.exe and usrmgr.exe. I'm then
able to signon from a windows XP computer with the command
net use \\pdcserver\ipc$ /user:root rootpassword

Two Locations, One Domain - LDAP Auth Failure
Hi Dirk, thanks for your reply!
I definatly want to go down the BDC route so that I always log on to the nearest server. The link between the two isn't really an issue - both have a DSL connection to the
internet.
I started by modifying my smb.conf files so that each server is a local master for their subnet, but only the uni box is domain master. After fiddling with the 'remote

Need help with IDMAP storage in LDAP using Winbind
Hello @ll,
First a small sketch of my working environment.
There is one PDC, W2000 server, which contains an Active directory, so
basically all the windows users are maintained there. And the Linux/Unix
accounts are stored on a NIS server.
My goal would be the following 2 things.
Firstly currently all the Linux/Unix servers are setup with individual
winbind setups to make the windows users

Samba/LDAP-Backend stability on Debian Sarge
Hi,
First, excuse me if this post is a bit offtopic, maybe this should be
posted in the debian-users maillist, but I just wanted to read your
experiences with this kind of setup, since I've migrated the server
to Debian Sarge using LDAP Backend to serve clients using WinXP and
Win98, and I've got this serious problems:
- Samba segfaults [1]
- slapd process crashes very often, almost
