Samba3 Ldap on Suse 8.2
Hi
I can't get a Windows 2000 SP4 client login on my PDC (SAMBA SERVER).
Here are some infos about the server Samba version 3.0.2pre1 running Suse 8.2 with a OpenLDAP server version 2.1.12, nss_ldap and pam_ldap.
I constantly get the message : User / Password is wrong from the client.
The root is created. Here are the debug messages I get, starting by the LDAP and SMBD logs:

samba 3.0.0 Authentication with NTsp4
We have been running Samba 2.2.x for some time without problems.
Servers are Solaris 2.7 and RH Linux.
Clients are a mix of WinNTsp4 and Win2K.
Server setting is for plaintext (un-encryted passwords).
On upgrading the Samba server to 3.0.0, (smb.conf file unchanged):
All WinNt clients fail to authenticare.
Win2k clients authenticate correctly.
On reverting back to Samba 2.2.x, all cleints

winbind + ADS = NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Hi all,
I've searched the list archives and found similar issues, but none of
the resolutions I found worked for me. When I try to connect to my
samba share with an Active Directory domain account, I get denied:
$ smbclient -U SOTS+jason //media/tmp xxxxxxxx
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Looking at the log files I found this (complete file is posted below):

Samba and Cisco's WebVPN
Hi All,
I'm posting this just in case someone can tell what's going on with
samba that would prevent this from working. Cisco has the ability to
see a smb share from their webvpn product with CIFS. We can browse
windows shares but not samba shares. The following log outputs are
from my ASA firewall. I know these are cisco logs but I'm hoping a
lightbulb will come on for someone. The

smbclient not using winbind to authenticate
Hi All
I am using the samba 3.0.14a RPMs installed on SuSE 9.2.
I have a PDC running on one machine, using tdbsam as a backend - this
has been running fine for months.
I am not trying to set up a standalone server in another office, which
should authenticate with the PDC using winbind, as per the "The 500-User
office" chapter of samba by example :

Cannot get plaintext+pam auth to work on 4.2.10
Hello,
After an almost 19 year gap, I need to ask this list for help again :-)
I have somewhat specific circumstances, where I think I can tolerate
plaintext passwords on the wire as long as I get samba to authenticate
against the system /etc/shadow (using PAM) in exchange.
0) I'm using Debian 8.4 (jessie), samba packages 2:4.2.10+dfsg-0+deb8u3.

Unable to browse Samba share by hostname from certain clients...
Dear Help,
I am having a very odd problem. For some reason, I am able to browse to my
Samba share by IP address but not by host name from Windows 2008 servers in a
particular domain (the same domain the Samba server belongs to). However, I am
able to browse by host name from XP clients as well as Windows 2008 servers in a
different domain.
Even stranger, if I add an alias (using the netbios
