Hi all,
I am just curious, about the following:
I've upgraded from 3.0.1pre3 to 3.0.1rc2 and found that running testparm
gives me sessionid.tdb not initialised, and then outputs what is
expected. Everything else seems to work as before.
I'm using Mandrake 9.2, with SRPMS built by Buchan Milne rebuilt

Gurus,
I have downloaded and compiled 3.0.2a.
I can map from 2000 to my share fine.
If I try a smbstatus I get errors, see below.
Can someone please point me in the right direction?
smbstatus -s /usr/local/etc/meltwk-tst02.conf -d 10

charset repeats about 10 times.

smbstatus connections.tdb not initialised
Hi all,
I just figured out something that I could not find any solutions on any
where, and thought I'd share it with you.
Initially I had a standard rpm install from the distribution for Samba
(2.2.1a). A new fix version came out and since the rpm version was older I
decided to switch to installing from src (2.2.2).
Then in a weak moment I executed an online software upgrade, in

smbstatus connection.tdb not initialised
HI,
I recently upgraded from SAMBA 2.0.7 to SAMBA 2.2.2. I downloaded the
binaries (from samba.org binary packages) for
HP UX 10.20. I am able to map drives and print however when
I execute smbstatus (even at the root level) I get
connections.tdb not initialised.
This file does not exist in the /var/opt/samba/locks directory.
I changed my log level to 3 to try to see what is going on but

unknown parameter "ldap server", head branch
I've fetched and compiled the latest from cvs --with-ldapsam, and didn't
appear to have any problem.
testparm complains thusly:

in the smb.conf file. nmbd will abort with this setting.
...even though there is no "wins server" entry in the smb.conf, but it then

Samba and CUPS printing issues
Hello All,
I am facing some problems with the samba 3.0.14a + Cups 1.1.12 and Solaris 10 combination.
I am using the printing services on Samba.
Whenever I give a smbstatus command I get the following error. The clients are able to connect and access the printers, but still this error occurs, which is really weird.

smbd wont start
My samba has been setup in its current configuration for around 9 months and
has worked without a problem, over the weekend my windows boxes were unable
to access the samba shares. Using SWAT I found that the smbd was not
starting. I have tried the following:
Trying to start smbd (as root) from the cli with:

smbstatus & connections.tdb
Greetings,
After recently upgrading Samba from 2.0.7 to 2.2.2 on my Solaris
Unix servers, I have problems running command 'smbstatus'. When
I run smbstatus as root, it correctly displays connection information
for users who've mapped network drives to server shares. However,
when I run smbstatus as non-root, instead of displaying connection
information, it issues the message

smbstatus - switched off computers are sometimes showed
I have a Samba server configured as PDC for ~100 computers. It's version
3.0.24 running on Debian Etch (distribution package).
I want to write a tool for user logon/logoff tracking. Because parsing
log files is hard job (windows frequently disconnets or connects during
user session or etc.) I decide to use smbstatus output which seem to be
reliable.
So I run smbstatus binary every 10

domain member server smb won't start
Hi.
I had been reading about how to join a samba server to my current PDC
running samba+ldap.
My PDC have a BDC and they are working, I want to add another samba
server and be a domain member server.
The docs off samba had open my mind about the technical stuff but I
still cannot make this thing works.
My OS is Centos 5.6 PDC Samba Version 3.5.4-0.83.el5_7.2
My domain member is centos

Hi!
I've been fighting with Samba for over a week now and I can't seem to work

came with RH7.2.
I ran "smbstatus" and got the following error:

Nmbd crash with failure to open wins.tdb
Hello,
I've found this issue reported only once before but no real answer was
provided/found.
I am trying to migrate from an old 2.0.7 server, but the bundled
install 3.0.24 on FC6 is giving me major pain. Putting aside the
actual configuration and user migration which I need to figure out,
the problem is that nmbd refuses to start with the following errors in
the log:
