How to join a domain without using admin or root
Hi there, I've a question about how to add a Win2000 machine without using the administrator account of the win-client. For example, I want to install a client-machine until the local login. Now I want to sent the pc to a different location where the user should only enter his account and password and domain. The useraccount and machineaccount are already created with smbpassed -ma

Trying to 'Upgrade' to Samba 3.0 on RedHat Enterprise 3.0
Here's my situation: I currently have Samba (v. 2.2.7) running on RedHat 7.3, configured as a Domain Controller. Users are logging into the domain and everything is working fine. I must 'upgrade' to RedHat Enterprise Linux ES 3.0. I say 'upgrade', but what I actually have to do is a complete OS install, NOT an upgrade (there is no upgrade path to RHEL3.0 from anything

Renaming a computer on a Samba domain
We shift computers around a lot, and therefore need to rename several whenever we get new batches of systems in. Tried simply renaming a system while on the domain, but got an "access denied" error. I WAS able to disjoin the domain, remove the LDAP entry for the computer, log in as a local administrator, rename the computer, and rejoin the domain a different computer name. However,

[LLVMdev] YA Vectorization Benchmark
Renato, Thanks for the link. At the moment we are unable to vectorize any of the loops in this benchmark. I found two main problems: 1. We do not allow reductions on floating point types. We should allow them when unsafe-math is used. 2. All of the arrays are located in a struct. At the moment we don't detect that these arrays are disjoin, and this prevents vectorization. We should be

Difficulty converting from RH 7.3 to Debian Sarge
I am running debian sarge 2.4.27-3-686 and samba version 3.0.14a-Debian . The previous machine was running rh 7.3 (valhalla) 2.4.20-29.7.progeny.11, samba version unknown. I have restored all shares and directories. Most of users can access everything, however our login script will not run. For those users that cannot log in re-joining them to the domain not only works but then the login

Seamless update from Samba 2 to Samba 3 on a new server
Hi, I'm new to the list, I hope i'm posting at the right place ;) I'm having a hard time trying to update and to move my Samba 2.2 PDC to a new Debian server. Currently, the PDC is using Samba 2.2.8 on a Solaris Server. My goal is to move it to another computer, and to update it to a newer version (3.0.24) This must be fully transparent for the users, since I have no time to

Daily changetrustpw breaks authentication
Samba 3.0.21b The Samba docs indicate [0] we should be running changetrustpw [1] at some point (cron.daily) to update a machines trust account. However, I've seen multiple instances with 2 seperate AD environments where this breaks our ability to enumerate/authenticate with the domain. In both instances, we see something similar to the following in the winbind logs: (ntlm_auth):

edge case concerning NA in dim() (PR#13729)
Full_Name: Allan Stokes Version: 28.1 OS: XP Submission from: (NULL) (24.108.0.245) I'm trying to use package HDF5 and have discovered some round-trip errors: save, load, save is not idempotent. I started digging into the type system to figure out what type graffiti is fouling this up. Soon I discovered that comparisons with NULL produce zero length vectors, which I hadn't known was

install.packages hangs RGui with frozen rpwd process at bottom of process tree (PR#13734)
Full_Name: Allan Stokes Version: 2.8.1 OS: XP Submission from: (NULL) (24.108.0.245) I've just spent a hellish six hours trying to create my own R package with a bare bones "hello world" R function inside. I was able to create a package.tar.gz file eventually with much perseverance. My remaining problem is that when I try to install my simple package under RGui, it hangs.

Creating domain users - how?
The problem is - how do I do it? It seems to be such an easy question but I've failed to find it in the documentation. (I'm trying to follow "How to Configure Samba 2.2 as a Primary Domain Controller" which I was pointed to by SWAT.) I'm guessing the solution's obvious, but if so, I hope somebody can help easily. I've used samba for a few years (so I'm not a

Problem with smbclient ...
Ok, got a real interesting bug here (if it is a bug). I have 2 computers running samba, one is an HP, and the other is a Linux machine. The network looks something like this: HP9000 Linux Modem P5-200MMX HP-UX 10.20 <--> Gateway <-- PPP link --> Linux 2.0.29 Stable .16 release .17 release, no patches applied Everything is behind a firewall, so all traffic is

Top posting - there is no rule.
What's with the occasional "Un-Top-posting", there is no rule that says you can't, http://www.asterisk.org/community/rules My preference is top posting, as you see the answer at a quick glance, instead of reaching for the scroll bar (or whatever key stokes are required) to get to the bottom, to find that the answer isn't there yet.
